bashing nurse aides

Hi,

I have been reading some very disturbing posts.

First not all aides want to be nurses. I compare it to working at a fast food resteraunt. I am the burger flipper and you are the burger resteraunt manager. Yes, you are in charge but since I have other plans,flipping hamburgers is a means to an end. I would not care to take your blood sugars or your vitals for that matter. I work as an aide to care for my patients very basic needs. I would want someone to take care of me if I was sick, old, or helpless. I have a ton of respect for nurse aides and nurses. It is important to put things in perspective if you do your job I will do mine. Remember that it takes all kinds and some of us are just passing through.

Well, I have a ton of respect for aides, but if taking vitals or blood sugars is in your job description, then...

I think it would serve this poster well to directly reference the threads he or she has a problem with. That generally works better than blanket statements.

Exatly, fab4. The only "bashing" I have seen of aides on this board is reserved for those who aren't doing their jobs. There are loads of people on here working their way through school, nursing and otherwise, as CNAs.

I am neither an aid or a nurse I am someone considering the field and seeing these types of posts are discouraging. I have not been a member of this board for long but I can say I have not seen post bashing anyone.

But thats just me....

Who are you angry at? I know personally I have nothing against aides. They can be your right arm.

She and RN pupil sound an awful lot alike, they have things posted on the thread about nursing for money. I think they are either the same person, cloned versions perhaps, or maybe they are sisters, best friends, or something like that!!

I have to agree with everyone I have not seen any nurse bashing. The only posts with something bad to say about CNA's also ID the CNA as not doing their job, or abusing the residents. But never have I heard ALL CNA's being bashed. CNA"S are the hub of any place.

I have been a member of this board for a while now and I haven't come across any extreme CNA bashers. It's quite simple -- you either do your job or you don't. Let me put it into your terms -- if you're told to make a cheeseburger, make a cheeseburger. If you're told to do blood sugars at a certain time, do your bloodsugars. If you "would not care to do bloodsugars" then quit, and don't complain on this board, especially if you don't want to be a nurse, and are just "passing through."
