Banner Nurse Fellows Program

I interviewed for the nurse fellows program through Banner about three weeks ago and still haven't heard anything! I was talking to another girl there for an interview who said that her friend (I know, I know, don't listen to anything like this, but I can't help it!) got a call a week after her interview offering her a slot. Has anyone else interviewed and heard anything?

I don't know why I'm so freaking out about it. I'm already accepted into Mesa to start in January (I deferred) but I WANT TO GET INTO THIS!

just got this email-- i am a current banner fellows student.

despite an ongoing national nursing shortage, the phoenix area is currently experiencing a greater supply of new graduate nurses than current employment capacity due most likely to the impact of the economic downturn in this market. as a result, banner health is experiencing a greater retention of our nursing rn workforce. in turn, this has resulted in decreased opportunities for new graduate nurses.

as a result of this current situation, banner has carefully assessed our sponsored programs and will make the following changes:

- banner will continue to support the students currently being sponsored through our programs.

- the banner health nurse fellows program is being phased out with the last group being admitted to the program in july 2010. this final cohort will graduate in june 2012.

- in addition, we will not admit new students into our bilingual nurse fellows or az scholars programs.

I too was called Friday for an interview! I'm ecstatic! Just curious, does anyone know any recent questions that have been asked in the interviews? Ive gone though this whole thread and read stuff they've asked a few years ago, but just wondered if anything new was being asked.

Congrats on your upcoming interview cscanlon! I'm assuming they are going to ask similar questions to those asked in the past. Good luck and don't overthink it; just be prepared for the types of topics and questions that others have posted here and you will be fine! :)

Don't be shy to brag about yourself. :) When they ask a question, try to give examples of how you demonstrated that skill/value from different areas of your life, not just from one area. For example as a student, in your workplace, in your church, as a mom, etc.

I believe it is July 6...I am also still currently waiting for the infamous phone call trying to not get to discouraged

mamabear, I am in the same boat. Hoping to get a call for an interview. It seems like everyone who has gotten called has an interview scheduled for next week. (correct me if I am wrong) I can't imagine they are going to fit all 80 interviews in in one week but who knows :/

cscanlon, I don't remember them mentioning a date at the March meeting for when the cohort would officially start.

ok what is the difference between mesa-boswell block 3 and the banner cohort. Why do you guys start in July vs Aug 23rd?

Ok correct me if I'm wrong. The BNF is part time and takes 2yrs to complete? The other one is the accelerated Lpn to Rn?
