Any Fall 2011 ACC hopefuls out there? I start my nursing skills class in March and am very excited. I'm reapplying next week for the Fall. If I calculated my ranking correctly I should make it in.
Good luck everyone!
With 2 kids and a husband that is also in college, can you really be financially or mentally prepared? Probably not but that's reality, that's life. I enrolled back in school because it is something I love, becoming a nurse is a part of me and I have an unwavering desire, drive and focus to make that happen no matter what setbacks come my way. On contrary, from what I understand hiring managers prefer ACC students because they are more hands on and think outside the box compare to UT students, but then again who can you believe these days when all our information is word of mouth and comes from so many sources. In the end, there are so many jobs open for RN's and LVN's outside of a hospital setting. It may not be the ideal position, none the less it is doing something you enjoy until that dream job comes along. I know you are trying to help/warn, but in the process you are discouraging people from pursuing their dreams. No hurt feelings, just my opinion.
Hello everyone! I was just wondering if anyone could answer this....I know when you take the HESI you immediately see your results, but as far as printing our your score to turn in with your application, is it immediate as well? Or does it take some time for your score to be posted on your EVOLVE account. Thanks!
So which campus are all of you interested in and why? I am a little torn myself, I know there are so many pros and cons about all three. Any ideas?
I am interested in the hybrid, which will be @ the RR campus. Reason, well I believe is the best fit for me, but honestly I would take any available spot they would offer me.

hey... thanks for bringing it up..
I am not aware of those of either campuses... well except for hybrid... this one is obvious
the only thing that I can think of is the driving distance from where you live to that campus
Anything else that might be helpful ?

It is great that you think that way, a nurse or any person that works in the medical field should think that way!;
What I am saying is to be financially and mentally prepare to wait 6 months up to a year before you can actually start changing the world one patient at the time. If you dont believe me ask the hiring managers while doing your clinical rotations or just call around, ask your instructors.
Just to give you an example; ACC students have to compete to get a job against UT, Texas Tech and Belton graduated nurses. All this RNs hold a bachelor degree. That is what most of the hiring nurses managers are looking for. Even when ACC students graduate with excellent skills is sad when reality hit you on the face. Seton and St David's are the only hospital around the Austin area that hired recently graduated nurses. Seton receives about 1000 applications per year from all this new nurses; and just hired 99-120 per year out of the 1000 applicants; same goes for St davids. Be prepare to wait, call around dont wait until the last semester to start looking for a job, make contacts, at the end what counts if who you know and can get you in to work for a hospital, hospice or LTC facility.
