What Watch?
I use a timex analog watch with a large face, second hand, indiglo, and military "cheat" times. I trashed the nasty fabric watch band and replaced it with a decent rubber one I found on amazon. It's done a great service through 2+ years of pretty icky clinicals. There are no links on the band so I can quickly disinfect it and/or wash it thoroughly with soap and water. If it breaks - no biggie. It wasn't expensive to begin with. The olive color watch case and orange band are also easy to locate in my bag first thing in the morning. That workhorse has actually earned me a few compliments from other nurses!

just finished the nclex rn an hour ago
As far as I can tell Texas updates its website Tues and Thurs around 8-10 am. So, if you tested Monday results should appear Thursday. Wednesday test takers will have results the following Tuesday, etc. You can pay for quick results through Pearson 48 hours after testing, at your exam time.

Can anyone verify Pearson Vue "trick" April/May 2013?
Took the RN NCLEX on Wednesday, May 29. PVT "good pop up" was there one hour after I finished the exam. I just used quick results to find out I passed! BTW, my classmates who took the exam on the 28th found out they passed through the TX BON website yesterday. The BON apparently doesn't update every day; I had to pay $8 to Pearson today to find out I passed. 4 of my classmates also had good PVT and passed.

It seems that many floors are making verbal offers over the phone, but waiting on HR to follow up with paperwork. Some floors play it more "by the book" and wait to make offers until HR gives them the go-ahead. Hang in there!

Questions about Seton Versant RN Residency in Austin
I don't have a rundown of the entire system, but I know that classmates have had offers from Brack 8, Brack IMC, SMC 6, Williamson 5, and Dell ICU. I know of one classmate who interviewed at Brack ICU last week and expects they will make a decision this week. Hope that helps!

Questions about Seton Versant RN Residency in Austin
Not to be a downer, but if you are applying for the June cohort and haven't been in touch with the managers your chances of getting an interview are pretty slim. Most departments are finishing up interviews. Many have already made verbal offers on all of their positions. My understanding is that there will not be an October cohort this year, but that's information from a few nurse managers. I haven't verified it with HR.

Seton Healthcare Residency Austin 2013
I went to the open house, talked with managers, and applied to the floors I was interested in (all acute care.) I followed up with cover-letter style emails a week or two after the open house. I've had 5 interviews, some multi-step. I don't have an offer, yet, but I have been in contact with the nurse managers and understand that the the Versant positions are all supposed to be offered at the same time. I'm hoping to have a job by the end of April. I hope this helps.

Does anyone know which brand scrubs are approved for the ACC program? I'm guessing Landau is safe. What about Dickies and Cherokee? I know they tell you to order from Total Uniform but it seems unfair to HAVE to order through them.

Thanks for the info Radiation! I might try and cut my trip a little short to attend the Jump Start. If I can't, though, it sounds like I have enough resources online to make up for some of it. As for the Crocs, I'm pretty sure the issue was with the holes (infection control) and problems with slipping and tripping. I'm guessing these ones would be ok because they're closer to something like NurseMates. I'm not sure I trust any shoe I can't try on, though. I'll t have to hit streets next month!

I have a Littman Cardiac Stethoscope and I LOVE IT. My mom is an RN of 20 something years and swears by this model. If you want something less pricey the basic Littmans are great, too. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Littmann/stethoscope/products/product-catalog-us/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20KFI1_nid=GTBVV71C5RbeD77LGQCVJWgl http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Littmann/stethoscope/products/product-catalog-us/?PC_7_RJH9U5230GE3E02LECIE20KFI1_nid=ZD04NMHXWZbeD77LGQCVJWgl

Ugh, I wasn't even thinking about dosage calcs! I did pretty well with them in pharmacology, though, so I should be ok just doing some practice problems. That's good to know about the vital signs. I'm going to practice on my husband more often. I read the student handbook, but I'm still having trouble figuring out student shoe requirements. I really want to buy these. They're Crocs but they have no holes and a non-slip tread. They also have a slight cup on the heel. Will they be acceptable? http://www.crocs.com/crocs-mercy-work/10876,default,pd.html?cgid=women-footwear&cid=138&start=16&sz=4
