Austin Community College Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Any Fall 2011 ACC hopefuls out there? I start my nursing skills class in March and am very excited. I'm reapplying next week for the Fall. If I calculated my ranking correctly I should make it in.

Good luck everyone!

I also bought the Saunders NCLEX RN app for iphone. I make it a point to review it every night and it is extremely helpful. Like Purkinje stated, whether you get it right or wrong it tells you rationales. Very invaluable!

Hey RADIATIONRN2BE, I'm glad you're liking your Level-1 Hybrid classes so far. I'm in Level-1 at CEC right now and am loving it too. We're off and running, at last! I wondered which of the Saunders NCLEX RN apps you got for your phone. There were a whole bunch of different editions, and they all ran $30 each. I may just pick up the comprehensive book and read/review it the old fashioned way. Anyway, congrats on getting started. And good luck to all of the Fall 2011 hopefuls. You're almost there, and it's so worth it when you finally get to start!

Thanks! I'm glad you are liking CEC! My clinicals are so cool. I love actually be at the hospital and not just working as a tech, actually giving meds, doing assessments, and all the other RN stuff is so nice! The app I got is blue, it says Saunders on the top, RN under it in a circle, then NCLEX-RN under that.

I also bought the new 5th edition of the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN examination by Linda Anne Silvestri. Heard from some level 2 and 3 students that is was a great supplemental study guide not only for the boards but for the nursing exams throughout the 4 semesters. Got it for about $50 on Amazon.

Ok see how tired my brain is....Purkinje already sent the link to the book I was talking about. LOL! I need rest stat!! My official nursing diagnosis for myself would be this :

Increased stress level r/t upcoming mastery checkoff s/t RN program AEB large bags under eyes and increased consumption of caffeine.

I love it! Don't forget your scientific rationale! HAH! :lol2:

Hey , guys!

I am waiting to hear from ACC if I am in or not. I have 1 B, so my total is 55.

Thanks to those of you who talk about books and etc. This is very helpful!

Also wanted to ask if anyone wants or know someone who would be interested in selling the textbook for RNSG 1105? It is Fundamentals of Nursing by Taylor, 7th ed. I would greatly appreciate this! I am expecting to be taking this class over this summer.

They aren't using the Harkreader 3rd edition anymore??

The book they are using for the Spring semester is; Fundamentals of Nursing: The art and science of Nursing Care ISBN # 9780781793834. I was wondering if they will use this one for the summer too? I've been wanting to buy it but I am not sure

I was wondering about this too.

The RNSG 1105 acc. to the bookstore website uses Taylor this spring. so I assumed it will be Taylor for summer too. May be I am missing smth?

Wow, that's surprising considering Harkreader is a level 1 instructor. We are still using the Harkreader book from RNSG 1105 in level 1. Haven't even opened the Med Surg book yet.

Do you think they will use the same book for the summer?

I want to buy it!!!

We were told they were switching from Harkreader's Fundamentals to that other book -- they're also going to be replacing the ACC skills videos with ones from the company that manufactures the new textbook. (I imagine that means all the checkoff sheets will be updated to correspond to the videos, too.)
