Austin Community College Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Any Fall 2011 ACC hopefuls out there? I start my nursing skills class in March and am very excited. I'm reapplying next week for the Fall. If I calculated my ranking correctly I should make it in.

Good luck everyone!

Hey, I was actually thinking about starting this thread, I am glad you did. I am also reapplying for the fall of 2011. I have already taken nursing skills last fall. My ranking placement for the fall was 181 and did not make it in. I am counting on making it for this fall. I hope I do because I cannot wait around anymore. My new ranking calculation for the fall should be 61.02. What is yours?:D

I applied for the first time on Jan. 18th and really don't expect to get in with the anticipated amount of re-applicants. Where did you take your Nursing Skills class and what campus are you leaning towards once you get in? With a 61 you should have no problem at all. A friend of mine had a 53 last semester and got in on her first try.

I am in the same boat as you guys! I applied last time but was not done with my coreq's. But my GPA is not so good so I don't know if I will make it in this time around, even with everything finished!:uhoh3:

Hi, LD424

is it that important to apply on the first day they accept applications? I turned my in on 01/25- the day after I took HESI. Does this mean I have a lesser chance?

When I talked to the lady who took my papers she said that last semester about 400 people applied and they took only 140 students. I asked about the ranking too, and she said it was about 56. Which makes it 4.0 GPA!!!!

I have one B, everyhitng else is A, so my ranking is 55. I can't believe I won't be able to get in

I am so tired of waiting....:crying2:

How was that nursing skill class? Is it hard? Do I need to buy/get anything else besides the textbook?

If there is a tie between you and someone else they will accept the application that is turned in first. That is the only plus to getting it in ASAP. I think you should have no problem getting in with a 55, a friend of mine got in with a 53 last semester, but I think they had less re-applicants. From what I understand there are actually 180 spots, 50 at eastview, 50 at CEC and 40 at each RR and hybrid. Some people choose to defer to the following semester if they do not get the campus they want. Hope this helps.

yes, it helps a lot. I didn't even know that you're assigned to one of the campuses. CEC- you mean Cypress ?

and hybrid is online lectures/lab- clinicals in hospitals?

WOw! Thanks a lot!!!

CEC is the Clinical Education Center off of 35 and 15th, I think it use to be a hospital and yes hybrid is exactly what you described. I think a big number of applicants are leaning towards that option because they need to be employed and apparently the hybrid course is the only way to do so. If you go on the ACC ADN website and click on Level 1(and any campus) in the left hand column, it will give you an idea of how intense this program is. As far as the campuses go, from what my friends told me you receive an acceptance email to which you respond with the campus you are interested in attending. If there is no room they send you a response with an alternate campus which you can either accept or defer to the following semester.

Thanks, LD424

It seem you know it all... Here is another question..

I turned my application in last week, 01/25. When will be I be permitted to register and eventually take RNSG 1105? the website says i will receive an email petition when the application time closes, which is 04/01. Does this mean that I will be taking 1105 in summer? There aren't classes on the schedule that start in April. THe next available ones are in summer.

Thanks-Thanks!

I'm not sure how that works. I know that they send out more petitions then they accept students, just in case people defer they have enough people to fill the spots. I also know they open more sections once the petition get sent out, but when that is I do not know.

Thank you, again! Are you trying in for the fall too?
