Austin Community College - ACC - Spring '11 hopefuls

Published

Hi ya'll-

Thought I'd get this started for the rest of us who, sadly, did not make it in for Fall 2010. I'm hoping to re-submit my application for Spring today (or this week). Does anyone know, do we receive the form from the nursing office? Or, is this something we should grab from the website?

My score upon re-applying will be 54.899. Dang, sure am hoping this will be high enough and get me in this round!

How's everyone else holding up? Did everyone complete the pre-req - 1105 already? I have not and won't (due to extenuating circumstances) until early Fall. Will this negatively impact my chances of getting accepted? According to Tammy and the office, no. But, wanting to get everyone's input. Hoping we will hear about acceptance by Sept. Does anyone know this date for sure? The application period closed July 15, don't know why it takes them so long to get this word out.

Anyway- good luck to you. This is my 3rd round of applying :( so I sure am ready to get in and get on with this career change!

Same here. Spring 2011 isn't an option in the registration system. I'm guessing it's because overall spring registration is pretty far off.

Also, don't the pickings look a little slim in the course catalog? I wonder if they'll add more sections between now and registration.

That makes sense, I guess. I know it's selfish, but I really wish they had decided to do it in some sort of rank order. I know I was high enough up to make it into my first or second choice. Being based on ACC credits, I'm out of luck. :uhoh3:

It makes sense to me! Most of my credits are non-ACC, too. I'm in the same boat when it comes to registering. It's a bummer.

Yeah but remember, the class you are registering for is only open for you guys. It is not like registering for a pre-req where you are up against a ton of students for the class you want. Even if you don't get the class you want, there is always an opportunity to take it in the second half of the spring semester. I believe it is only a 6-8 week class.

True, RADIATIONRN2BE.

Good luck to us, shototsu. :)

I heard that the cutoff score was around 52, without considering any candidates who declined for this semester.

my was 51.94:D

Does Anyone know about professors at the CEC for level 1. Who is most recommended??

I don't know about the most recommended but I have a friend who just started level 1 at CEC and he says all the professors are excellent.

They are all good. When your register you'll register under one professor but you don't actually have one proffessor. Everyone at CEC level 1 sits in the same room every mon/wends. One teacher teaches the whole class and the proffesors switch around everyday so one day you may have a proffesor teach one module that day and then the next class another proffesor teachers another module. During the 1st week you'll have 2 proffesors split the class period cause you'll start off with doing 2 modules. So basically the teachers usually teach one module and who teaches a certain day is diifrent so you don't have one proffesor you have them all. During lab its the same thing but proffesors have the tendency to either be morning or afternoon. What you get for lab time depends on what you get for clinicals. You''ll be taught by all the proffesors and i'll tell you right now hands down CEC proffessors are so nice and caring. You will love them. They are not uptight. We actually have one that is really layed back and i mean really layed back during checkoffs. You'll know who it is when you do check offs. When you register you just register for whatever. During orientation you'll find out clinicals/lab times and calendar stuff so don't stress over who to register for cause it doesn't matter. You'l be taught by all proffessors and assigned clinicals and labs.

what ranking were you? and did you have to apply twice?

So which option did everyone select as their first choice?

I asked for :

1) Hybrid

2) Round Rock

3) Eastview

I asked for:

-hybrid

-CEC

-EVC

But I think I messed up b/c I didn't respond from my ACC email address at first. Now seeing how many put hybrid as their first choice, and knowing that only 30 were accepted last semester for this program, I'm a little worried. I actually would LOVE the CEC but we can't afford for me not to be able to work at least part time. Can any of you first or second semester students who read this thread let me know if you are in one of the non-hybrid programs and able to hold a part time job? I know several hybrid students who say it's do-able but no one in the other programs.

Thank you so much for all information. I guess I will have to wait and see as the semester comes closer :)
