ATTENTION MOMMIES!

Nursing Students General Students

Hey I am reaching out to all the student nurses that are mommies! I am the mother of 5 kids! four boys and one girl! I wanna know how you plan to manage your time. And who is gonna help you?? Tell me your plan of action! I have no help. So I will be up doing homework ect after the kids are in bed. And any other time I have the opportunity. I am 29 and just now following my dream! I am praying that it all works out for me. I can't wait to be a nurse!! :nurse:

I've just turned 30 and have 5 kids, 4 boys and a girl ranging from 6-15. I am glad my kids are older know so they don't demand as much, my oldest is going to watch the kids after school but their grandparents live really close. My DH works nights so he can see the kids off in the A.M on early days.

I have two boys, ages 1 and 2 1/2, and I give you a lot of credit. Without help I would consider hiring someone to clean your house. That would trim about 2 hours off your household duties and give you more time to be mom or student.

If you're 30 and have 5 kids, I hope their father is in the picture, or you're married to him!! Seems like every female that was under 25 in my class that had kids either a) had NO contact with her kids fathers or b) chalked up their kid as a "mistake." Seriously, people going intoa profession to help others needs to get their priorities straight before having a gaggle of kids.

Thanks!! I really have cosidered that! I know it's gonna be hard getting thru school, but will be worth it all! My kids are 8, 6, 4, 3, and 7 months! the baby is my only girl! I wish you mommies the best of luck!! :yeah:

I have 5 kids, all boys ages 5-12. I turned 30 last month.

They will all be in school full-time this year and I start NS in two weeks. I've been waiting for this since my twins were born 5 years ago! My husband gets off early and will be here an hour after they get home from school. We have family that lives close by and I'm only in school 3 days/week right now. I'll also be doing homework at night and during their school days. Nice to meet a few more moms of several kids! :) I know a lady that just graduated last year and she had 5, so if she can do it, we can!

My worst fear is something will go wrong and I need to take time off of school for my kids. I have had to before and it set me back a semester as I couldn't get my pre reqs done in time.

I have 3 kids. My oldest is 12, then 11, and 6.

My parents help me out A LOT!! I can take them over there after they get out of school and pick them up before bed. They come home fed and bathed, ready to go to bed. This gives me kid-free study time the night before a test.

My kids are also great about just doing their own thing and letting me study.

I have a wonderful fiance' that helps around the house some and my older two are getting better at it, too. If only I could get the 6 year old to pick up his Legos we'd be set.

The only issue I run into is clinical mornings. The girls can't be dropped off until 6:45 so I have to find alternatives. Not sure what I will do this semester, one semester I let her ride the bus from my brother's. It's still a tight schedule since I can't drop the youngest off until 6am and clinicals start at 6:30, so I have to break a few speed limits to get there but it happens.

I have 3 kids, and I work full time. I'm lucky in that I work from home at night so my days will be free for school work and studying. Older 2 kids are in school full time and my little one will be starting Pre-k for 3 hours a day.

This semester will be easy (enough) to manage. It's next semester that I worry about when all of my classes will need to be taken on campus instead of online.

My older 2 kids already help a lot and my husband and parents are supportive. So I'm hoping I can manage it all. I will be delegating chores so everyone can help out more with the house.

I start to panic a bit when I think about what's to come and how hard it will be, but I just have to remind myself it's TEMPORARY. We will make it and in the end, we will be a great inspiration to our kids!

I learned to live with a mess- not disgusting, but things may not have always been put away in a timely manner and the bathroom didn't get cleaned daily like it used to. I used to be obsessive about having a spotless house. Learning to let that go was a big help. My gift to myself after graduation will be a house cleaning twice a month!!

Also, anytime anyone offers their help- take them up on it!! Offer to exchange kids with a friend- she can take them when you need to study, and you can take hers when you have a day when you may not have as much homework.

Wow i am so happy to meet all of you!! It's nice knowing there are mom's out there with more than one kiddo! Most of my friends have one maybe two but that's it!! I am attending one of the harder ns in the state. So i have my work cut out for me! I am so excited to finally go!! We should all try to keep in touch

I have 5 year old twins that are starting full day K on 9/6 - I start school on 8/22, so for the first week my hubs is taking MW and F off to keep them (I don't have school on Tuesday at all and clinicals are on Thursday but don't start until 9/1) - my parents live 2 houses over from me and are very supportive, as is my husband...they will get the kids off the bus daily (K can't get off the bus without a pickup) and probably just take them up the street to my house as I'll be home about 20 minutes after they are...

as for studying - my classes are actually staggered and I'll probably get several hours a day study time actually at school...and if I have to study hard on the weekend they're good about popping in a movie or playing Wii or something to stay out of my hair!
