ASU Summer 2010 Program Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello, everyone!

I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time. :uhoh3:

I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. :( Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year :banghead:.

Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat

What scores are you all applying with?

4th ave and van buren is farther than you may think cuz remember its 4th AVENUE not STREET! Although i've never walked it so maybe im wrong :p

Oh wow yeah you're right!! Thanks for catching that for me. I was totally thinking 4th Street haha. Well then.... I guess I'm just going to bite it and pay the money for NHI

Does anyone know where the nearest lightrail stop is?

Eddie!

It's Michele from patho. I'm so glad you got in! It's super crazy and if you want we can talk about my books.... Let me know what you think. Also when it comes to scrubs just get the embroidered stuff from Apparel Pro then shop elsewhere for your bottoms. Much cheaper online especially!!! Same with the stethoscope and BP cuff.

Michele

Hey is Michele from my HCR classes at MCC? This is Devon

Specializes in Emergency.

To NHI1/2 and UC, the closest light rail stop is central and van buren.

To the Mercado, the closest stop is 3rd st. and jefferson (eastbound) / 3rd st. and washington (westbound)

Uh-oh... Looks like I'm slacking... lol... Am I the only one who hasn't purchased my scrubs? :( Definitely gotta get to it! Welcome meeting is FAST approaching. Like many of you, I'm still trying to figure out where I'll park. I live close to downtown; ten minute drive if I take grand. I have an appt with my Dr Friday, and I'll turn in the rest of the forms Monday (paper said have everything turned in by 5/5 i think). I was reading a few of the posts about tuition, GEEZ its expensive!! I haven't even did my FAFSA yet, and haven't filled one out since 2007! A loan will probably be my best bet, but ASU's processing is so slow.... sigh**

Oh wow! You are right! It is per year and not per semester. Then that's really good news. Thanks for the info.

I currently park in the east garage by the phoenix convention center, it is kinda far from the nursing building but its not too bad. and its not far from mercado at all, plus its WAY cheaper.

How long does it take you to get to your classes? And is the parking garage always full? I have heard that some of the garages downtown are usually full and that it's not worth taking your car but the light rail instead.

I'm taking the light rail since for summer '10 thru spring '11 it will only cost $105 versus the parking pass which starts out at least twice as much.

Specializes in Medical/Surgical.

Wow! I've been slacking! haha My internet has been going berserk-o most of the week, unfortunately, making me freak out since I have 3 online classes. AH! Hopefully it's fixed now? Maybe?

Hey, chica!!! :) I actually parked in that garage when I had Patho in the fall and it is *kinda* far. Like it's not bad in the morning when you have a little time to spare, and it is REALLY close to the Mercado, but it sucks to walk that distance when it's really hot or if it's raining lol! If I remember correctly it only took me about 12 minutes to get from my car (I usually parked on the 4th or 5th level) and to NHI-2 room 222. lol!

I never had a problem with the garage being full, but that might have only been because I was only there on Mondays and Wednesdays from about 9:30 to noon or 1pm. Where the students and all other people who have the passes to that garage park is at I believe the 3rd level and higher and it was relatively wide-open after the 3rd level.

Then again, I never had to deal with game-day traffic from baseball or basketball... that might be a different story. :uhoh3:

yeah didn't even think about the walking in the heat part. That would really suck this summer...

So on another note I got an email from the lady about the textbooks. She sent me a flyer that had a list of 7 books in a package with the ebooks for $565. The flyer said the package was all the books we need for JR1 but 7 is quite a bit less than that other sheet they sent with the acceptance letters, so I dont know what to think now haha

Which books? I need to start selling some back haha. I still only paid $416 and got most in ebooks.

I would probably hold off on selling stuff back until we at least know for sure what we need and don't need. I imagine we should know that after the meeting on the 16th. But here are the 7 books listed in the flyer she sent me:
