ASU Summer 2010 Program Applicants

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello, everyone!

I submitted my application for the accelerated Summer 2010 program at ASU awhile ago, but I just realized that the February 1st deadline was coming up and wanted to see if anyone else here on allnurses.com applied or is applying. I'm so nervous, I've already applied once and didn't make it--I really, really, really, REALLY hope I can get in this time. :uhoh3:

I'm already starting to get impatient waiting for April!!! My whole life is on hold until then! I hate that I can't apply to any other schools because I'm stuck waiting for ASU and I don't want to pay a bunch of application fees if I make it into ASU regardless. :( Don't get me wrong, though, I really want to get into ASU's program. I just want to get into nursing, really. It's just a little annoying that we will find out about getting into the program so late in the year :banghead:.

Regardless, GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :heartbeat

What scores are you all applying with?

I agree with tttt, the blue pants are comfortable and I would stay in them all day when we wore then to clinicals :p I'm honestly surprised that i haven't spilled anything on the white pants yet lol but amazingly they're still white! haha and they're not that bad, you just gotta buy white underwear :lol2:

Typically labs are on tuesday, and thursdays are clinical days. You'll first start with "community" clinicals by going to a retirement facility and talking to a 'well elder' and then going to a preschool and teaching a lesson plan to the preschoolers. We're just now starting our long term care clinical rotation.

We usually have labs on tuesday and clinical on thursday. that changes sometimes. this week we have lab both days. theres a week of hell around 6-7 where you have two competencies and an exam in the same week.

heres a sample week from the calendar we get:

Tuesday is our lab day. its pretty typical of our lab days: we have a health assessment half and a skills half. In this particular example we had respiratory and thorax assessment for half of the day and chronic wound (aka pressure ulcers galore) care, incision care, and wet-to-dry dressing changes in the other half. that thursday we had our LTC orientation.

hope this gives a little insight to what you'll be doing

Eddie!

It's Michele from patho. I'm so glad you got in! It's super crazy and if you want we can talk about my books.... Let me know what you think. Also when it comes to scrubs just get the embroidered stuff from Apparel Pro then shop elsewhere for your bottoms. Much cheaper online especially!!! Same with the stethoscope and BP cuff.

Hi Everyone! I have been reading this thread for about a good hour now and I must say this is by far the most exciting and informative thread I found! :) I felt like I was reliving my entire ASU Summer Application experience all over again with the joys of emoticons hehe! I was also in the same boat as most of you and it's kinda funny/cool to find myself in the thread and the information I learned being spread to good use (Hi PineappleCrush! It's me your patho/nursing buddy!) hehe.

Thanks so much for all your help. You guys have helped me make/not make some big decisions that would affect my finances....all I can say is that, "I saved a lot of money by switching to Geiko" and Geiko I mean this thread lol :p

Hey send me a message with your number and I will give you a text. Apparently I can't send you a message until I have so many posts. LOL

I was trying to figure out how much parking permits are at downtown and here is what I found:

Nursing Healthcare Innovation Garage/University Center Garage at Polk between Central and 1st Street is $780/semester!!!!

As for the other options....

Lots 1, 2, & 3 at the Parking Lot of 2nd Avenue, slightly north of Van Buren is $600/semester

OR...

Lot 5 on Fourth Ave. north of Van Buren Street for $280

OR the cheapest and farthest of them all...

The East Garage in the Phoenix Convention Center for $210...

Has anyone ever tried any of these parking spots? How far is it really from the classes? What would you recommend? Is carpooling a good idea or would it be better to have a car handy when you are downtown?

Oops my message was for airborneinf82.

I currently park in the east garage by the phoenix convention center, it is kinda far from the nursing building but its not too bad. and its not far from mercado at all, plus its WAY cheaper.

I don't know about where the spots are, but the prices are per year not semester. The new year starts August, so you can get a prorated pass for the summer.

Although, looking over the list, I don't think 4th Ave and Van Burean would be all that far and for quite a bit less than NIH parking. Hmmm....

Thanks but I think we were trying to avoid putting it out in the open! :) We got it taken care of though.

Ah! Just thought I'd throw that out. :)

As it's a recent TOS (Terms of Service) change, I thought y'all might not be aware of it.

Safer not to post addys, you are correct.

Glad you got it sorted out.:)
