Hi everyone,
I'm trying to decide if I should apply to the 16 month or 24 month program in ASU. I need some input from others who are either in the program or have graduated from the program. If it is a faster pace for the 16 month one or not and what are the differences besides little to no break in between. Thanks in advance.

Hello I am in the 16 month program at West Campus. The only difference is the summers...currently in that rotation and it is intense. They cram 16 weeks worth of material into 12 wks....Tests..project on top of project and assignments up the .....!!! But its do-able..My head is still above water..and there is 4 weeks left to the semester! If you have any other specific questions, let me know!
Thanks for the reply, another question was, if you could pick all over again would you pick the 16 month one or the 24 month one. Because I do have a 2 year old son but do not work. So I just want to make sure that I make the right choice.
Yes I would pick the 16 month. The first two semesters were okay - - regular paced. The summer is pretty crazy but you get through it! There are plenty of single moms in our program that are doing just fine. I chose this campus because I wanted to finish school as soon as possible...I spent a few years in the military so I wanted to make up for some of that lost time. Besides I think if I had the summers off...I would be lazy and forget a lot of what I learned...I like continuity, but thats just me :)
Thank you so much for your input. Thats good to hear then. If its only the summer thats fast pace then I could deal. Oh yeah, do you mind me asking, what was your GPA getting into the program?
I had a 3.92 GPA...88 on the math portion of NET and 85 on Reading part...and like a 66 on my essay. My GPA def. helped considering I didnt do fabulous on the NET and essay!

Do the 16 month program for sure, it's totally worth it in the end. You might as well get it over with and get your career started. In my case, I graduated from ASU West in Dec. Now I have 6 solid months of experience instead of graduating this past May and maybe starting a new job sometime this summer. A lot of people can't do the 16 month thing because of kids, money, etc.; but if you can swing it then it's totally worth it. Good luck!

I have multiple friends that graduated from the 16 month program that said if they could go back and do it again, they would do the 24 month program. I start ASU's 24 month program at the downtown campus next week, I chose this because of what my friends said they went through. They said they had no social life, they practically disappeared for 16 months. Having the summer off between the semesters give you time to extern during the summer (you can start externing after the first year).
I guess it really just depends on what your main goal is. If you are in a rush to get it over with then the 16 month program, but if time is not and issue, i would do the 24 month program. Some people just need a summer break to go on vacation, relax, etc.

I am currently in the 24 month program at the downtown campus and I really like it. The big benefit to doing the 24 month program is that you can do a summer externship and that makes a huge difference in your confidence and your critical thinking skills. I externed at Mayo this summer and now that I am graduating in december I feel so much more confident and ready. My best friend did the 16 month program at East campus because she wanted to graduated ASAP and really did not have a life for 16 months. So it really just depends on how much time you want for family and friends? Hope that helps :)

For the 16 month program, how long is the "little or no break" in between semesters?

I'm in the 16 month program at ASU. We got a normal break during Christmas, 1 week off in May, and 2 weeks in August - the second of which I am enjoying now.
