  1. I'M IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This morning I went on the placement site to see if there were any last minute deferrals, and I saw 1 open spot for Glendale Community College, and thought what the heck, I'll put it as my number 1 choice and see what happens... then 10 minutes later, I got a call from a guy at the district office saying I was next in line and was offered a spot at GCC!!! So, I got in, and nursing school starts in just 5 days!!! Ahh! And now I'm scrambling around trying to get everything done before then! I live in the east valley, so I'm also going to have to move to Glendale (it's about an hour to an hour and 20 minutes if I just commuted everyday depending on traffic). But ya, you guys will definitely get in for fall since my timestamp was 8:01:49A.M. GCC wasn't even one of my 5 choices originally (since it's so far), but heck, I'll take it! I don't care that it's an hour away and I'll probably have to communute for the first couple weeks til I find a place to live, all that matters is that I'm finally in!!! The best feeling ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. jke530, I asked her what her timestamp was, but she said she couldn't remember (not everybody obsesses over their timestamps like we do haha). But my timestamp was 8:01:49A.M., so I'm guessing she had to be before me. From the placement whiteboard: The "oldest" application in the database still awaiting placement for a student that has (5) valid choices and has NOT deferred a placement was submitted on Jun 25, 2007 08:02:37 AM. The most "recent" application in the database for a student that was placed in a public pool that did not require a special application was submitted on Oct 22, 2007 08:02:29 AM. That "public" pool was for RIO. Wow I feel bad for the June 25, 2007 applicant! I really hope we don't have to wait as long as him/her!
  3. My best friend and I applied at the same time (October 22, 2007) and she actually got in for spring at Gateway Community College (traditional option). She was placed in mid-December and it was her 3rd choice. I'm still on the wait list just like all of you, and I'm hoping we will all get in for next fall!
  4. Nevermind... I figured it out.
  5. I think that's obviously a mistake since you can't turn your application in on a Sunday! Can you please tell me where you are getting this information from? Like, how you know the date/time stamp of the most recent person accepted?
  6. Yup I'm the same as you... I've been on the waitlist since October 2007 too.
  7. I haven't gotten my letter yet, but since that's the cutoff score (5.583), and I had a 5.486, that means I also did NOT get accepted I guess I'll just reapply for next fall then...
  8. I also heard about this... I heard from a lady in a class of mine at MCC who also attends ASU Polytechnic campus for pathophysiology. She told me about this last Thursday and that her professor told her class that ASU is cutting teachers and students from the nursing program, thus holding the aceptance letters until the dean can review them since they have to cut some of the students who originally got accepted. Though that contradicts what that article just said, a patho professor from ASU said it himself (which he told his class he really wasn't supposed to say)... might just be another rumor since I didn't hear it directly, but that's what I heard.
  9. I am so sorry... ya SCC is my second choice and I was shocked today when I noticed there were only 10 spots! I knew there had to be more before or I would've noticed that! Well I really hope you get in for January... you have definitely done your time waiting... I've been on the wait list for exactly a year now, but I'm not getting too hopeful for getting in for the spring (even though they told me when I applied it'd be 1-2 semesters... haha funny.)
  10. MassagetoRN, sorry but ya everyone's should say that when they log in. I called asu college of nursing and confirmed... it will NOT notify you online if you're been accepted into the nursing program or not, that is just saying you have been accepted to asu. Mine also says "Congratulations etc..." when I log in.
  11. Okay I just called ASU college of nursing.... NO you can't check to see if you've been accepted to the program online... that was just to be accepted into asu. The lady I spoke to said they will mail the letters out either at the end of this week or end of next week...
  12. +charged, where do you look?? And what was your total advancement score?? Mine was 5.486, I'm hoping it's good enough to get in! I went to myasu, then clicked on "view your admissions applicaiton status", then looked under admissions, then view status. But I think that is just showing that you have been admitted to asu as a nursing major, but not into the program...??
  13. I got my completion/verification letter from ASU a couple days ago but they miscalculated my gpa, overall advancement score, and said I was missing my transcripts (which I really wasn't)! But I called them and got it all straightened out now... so it is very important that everyone review their letter very carefully and make sure all the information is correct! So my final advancement score is 5.486 Good luck to everyone!!!
  14. Ya I'm taking my last 4 pre-reqs right now at MCC and CGCC... HRC 210, 220, 230, and PSY230. I agree with MassagetoRN, HRC 240 (pathophysiology) is very interesting. The best pre-req I took. I also took PHI 103 over the summer and thought it was a bit ridiculous and thought, how does this relate to nursing?? Oh well. About half my classmates this semester have also applied for asu's spring start program. Everyone I've asked in there so far has higher overall scores than me, so I really don't know if I'll get in. They told me that they heard them say we'd hear by the end of September (3 of my classmates said this), but in the packet it says we'll hear back in October/November... hopefully it'll be end of Septemeber, the sooner the better! I was also somewhat surprised about my score in the reading portion of the net. But since a lot of people seem to score around the same on that part, it makes me feel a little better knowing I'm not the only one. Good luck to everyone, and post when you get your letters!
  15. When I took the NET test a year ago for the MCCD, it tested on your basic math skills (fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, and alebraic expressions), reading comprehension (inferential reading, main idea of passage, and predicting of outcomes through reading the passages), reading rate, stress level, type of learner you are, basic science, and written expresion skills that you know. But the only scores that count are the scores from the MATH and READING COMPREHENSION portion of the NET. I can't remember the percentage you have to get correct on it in order to pass... it's either at least a 50% or 60%. It is a timed test that is done on the computer. When I took it for the MCCD, the math was 60 questions to be completed in 1 hour (though they may have reduced it now to 30 questions in 30 minutes as how it was when I took it for ASU last month), and 33 questions for reading in 30 minutes. I recommend the book called Study Guide for The NET, The HOBET, and The HELP Entrance Tests that I bought at the community college bookstore, and I saw an even newer version that was just Study Guide for The NET. It is very helpful to review everything in that book and to take the practice tests at the end of the book. And also there are practce tests online (just search NET practice tests on google and they should come up) that are very helpful. I took the NET before I turned in my nursing application for the MCCDNP. Because when I applied, you had to turn in your application with a copy of your NET scores and a copy of your fingerprint clearance card. I applied to the nursing program at MCC last October '07, and I took the NET at the MCC Red Mountain location August '07. I can't remember if you have to take it at the school you are applying to, because once you apply you can put up to 5 different schools you want to get put on the waiting list for the nursing program. But be sure to ask your advisor about all of this!! I am just telling you from what I remember. I know they've changed some of the pre-requisites and things since I have applied, so I don't know if any of this has changed as well. Sorry this message was so long, but I hoped some of it helps! :typing
