Hi everyone. i am about to make a bold move and ask the director of the biology department that i need a change of grade for my anatomy course. i also have to ask my professor if he would allow me as well. i am pretty sure i am getting an F. i posted another thread about this situation. I am very upset and i need advice. i want to convinve my professor to allow me to retake his final. i have no excuse but that it was difficult when i took the class to grasp all that information. I dont know how to convince him and i will do anything so i can get that big fat F turned away. should i do this? i wont see him until next semester should i email him? should i speak with the director first? if you have any helpful advice i would really appreciate it. Thank you
I was curious why you did not drop the class when you were doing poorly and still had the chance? My classmates usually watch their grade very closely when it comes to November and the last drop date is geting close. Some of them even have the Professor figure out their grade to that date so they can decide if they want to drop or not. If you were going to my school you would know better than to even ask. So, how did you get all the way to finals and fail? Why did you not drop?
dont see a difference a D might as well be an F. I had to get at least a B to get into NS.
Not sure why a prof would change a grade, I always got what I deserved. I dunno maybe you are a special flower. If I were the prof and someone asked me to change a grade I would tell them to **** off.
So it is the end of the semester and i finish taking my anatomy final.
My grades did improve a lot from last semester. Not golden but fair
92,78,100,78,85,90
Now i am waiting on my final lab and departmental exam grades.
I feel so LOW.
Is nursing even for me, I feel that i did not do as well as i hoped to do on my final. Now i am going to have to wait and see what big chunk of grade will be reduced. Common at least a "C". I can just imagine taking physiology.
Hoping to hear kind words, I already heard
" Maybe you have a learning disability... blah blah".... I don't
so do not waste your time putting me more down.
Thank you guys .

I'm sorry that you feel that way. But I do think that they asked valid questions. Considering that you are in college, it should be known that you get the grade that you EARN and not just get the grade that you WANT. If you didn't understand the material it was up to you learn it yourself by finding other ways (ex study groups, tutoring, etc).
Having a learning disability is not a put down. It just means that someone isn't learning the information taught by conventional methods. There are many people who have learning disabilities but never get diagnosed. It's very unfortunate. But if you ARE able to recognize and ADMIT that you may need help in certain areas, it will only serve you for the better.
I agree with everyone else & say you will just need to retake the class. It isn't ideal and it wont be fun but it is what's right. Hopefully you will do better the 2nd time around and the grade that you earn is the grade that you wanted.
Honestly everyone on this thread was trying to give you a reality check....you get the grade you deserve! You are not anymore deserving than anyone else...I just finished all my pre-reqs and let me tell you it was SO HARD im exhausted...working full time taking more than 12 credits each semester! College is not easy...I got all A's and one B+ and a C+ for my entire school career and that B+ and C+ were both because I didnt study enough or didn't understand.
Take responsibility, nobody can MAKE you feel any kind of way..you LET them affect you.
You got good advice and now you will be able to move on with your other classes with the knowledge you deserved what you got and YOU WILL SUCCEED.
GOOD LUCK!
I just want to echo what has been said. Saying that someone might have a learning disability is not a put-down. My son has a learning disability and his IQ is way above average. He has a type of disability in that he cannot write in words what his brain is thinking. It took extensive testing through the school system to isolate the problem, but the intervention was that he was allowed to dictate his answers rather than trying to write them out himself, and it was not just "bad handwriting". You would have been shocked at the difference. That is just our personal example. There are many more.
I doubt any of us intend to be unkind. I hope you are able to find your right path and succeed in whatever goals you aspire to achieve.

So you want to ask your professor to change a grade that you haven't even got yet?
Before you get upset, why don't you wait to see what he gives you.
That makes more sense. Way more.
i'm taking some time to study during the summer. i'm taking two courses but those are easy compared to the last two semesters. i've got a couple of books and will youtube for visual learning exercises so i'm ready for my last fall at cc. at this point i feel that nursing is a profession that will make you seriously brush up on multitasking and time management for sure. i wish you luck cookie91! we all learn at our own pace :)

Hey! I understand that this is a frustrating thing to you, but you can't (in good conscience) say that you deserve a better grade than the one you earned, right? Just take the class again. Think of it this way: you'll have a head start! I personally wouldn't want anyone who failed (what was it...) anatomy(?) to work on me at any time. Not at all. Keep with your dream. It isn't easy, but it will be worth it.
