Army Nurse Corps FY2014

Hello,

I haven't seen any activity regarding the Army Nurse Corps. There is an impressive amount of AF/Navy posts which is incredible. I heard from a few recruiters that there are a very small amount of positions in Critical Care. I was told there were many Med-Surg and other specialties available however.

I am applying for Active Duty Critical Care ER for 2014. My application was sent to the board 10/31 and I am supposed to hear back the first week of December. So far I haven't been able to find much of any information on the internet about the program.

Is there anyone else out there? :)

Absolutely come home safe. Hope it's been uneventful.

Uneventful? Nope! But working on the safe part. :D

Congrats!! So did you get your contract? Any idea on when you will go to bolc? So far I haven't heard anything! :arghh:

i just got my official confirmation i'm in, active duty 66p. My recruiter says i don't have to swear in, just fill in paperwork and contract. How did you do it? He says the swearing is in optional for active duty. I just do not want to make any mistakes, or not do it if it's necessary. Advise please

You will swear in, either before you get to BOLC or when you get to BOLC. It's never totally optional. lol

Optional? Man after my 5 year path to commissioning I was so excited and proud to take my oath. Ugh....AMEDD...

No it's not optional....I am not trying to disparage you, but I wish there was either a long presentation or mandatory conference for new medical officers coming off the street to really instill the pride and tradition of what being an Army officer means. For us guys coming out of OCS, ROTC or Westpoint the oath or swearing in means a lot.

Hey, I know this is a long shot, but if you see this message can you inbox me about your application experience? I'm looking at doing the CRNA program. I wouldn't mind being a 66H, but seems that there are more spots available for CRNA and I wanted to do that at some point in my career anyway.

Anyway, How long did it take to complete the application, what all did it involve, etc. I'm trying myself, just have to clear MEPS (was permanently medically disqualified a year ago from all services, trying to get that fixed first). Recruiters usually don't get into the specifics until they know I'll get cleared from MEPS first.

Eighty now all, vices are over staffed with nurse's. I am not sure about Army direct accession(da) for CRNA' s but for the long term health there are at least double the number of quality applicants as school slots. If you want to come in fact da for nursing in the Army you will need to be in a specialty area since they are not recruiting 66H's at this time, even ROTC nurse's are not going on active duty. But as you said you need to get your DQ taken care of first, waivers are hard to come by right now.
