Army Nurse Corps FY2014

Specialties Government

Hello,

I haven't seen any activity regarding the Army Nurse Corps. There is an impressive amount of AF/Navy posts which is incredible. I heard from a few recruiters that there are a very small amount of positions in Critical Care. I was told there were many Med-Surg and other specialties available however.

I am applying for Active Duty Critical Care ER for 2014. My application was sent to the board 10/31 and I am supposed to hear back the first week of December. So far I haven't been able to find much of any information on the internet about the program.

Is there anyone else out there? :)

Those days are coming to a close. Where I am at the present time, GS positions are locked. From higher, the push is that they need workers not bench warmers. There are too many of those. My current section has downsized a bit but I feel it somedays. Most of my GS employees are garbage and before my time in this section, they had mediocre managers to include some that were less than novice at their jobs. I took over and started holding people accountable. Too much sick call time, not following SOPs/protocols, leaving early or coming late, no accurate narc counts and more... The end result to this, they went crying to higher because I am doing my job.I hope hope we get another round of raise increases to be put on hold for at least 3 yrs. I also want another furlough. Unfortunately, the garbage is the one that rides the wave during times like this and the valuable, hard working people are the ones that leave.Every day I go to work, I see too many people with BS job titles and doing nothing when I walk by their office. It disgusts me.I will stop here and get out of my box. Too early for this.Only time will tell...
Welcome to government. If I had a dime for every decent GS worker I've met I could buy one item off the dollar menu at McDonalds. But seriously so many act like they are doing you a favor for simply doing their job or are just so lazy/incompetent literally nothing gets done. Their entitlement is almost as bad as many dependents I have met....It's sad...I refuse to work GS as an RN even if it is a kush job.
Not the Guard. The Reserves. They have the AMEDD assets.
Guard does have nurses just not in a large capacity like the reserves.

I guess with the Guard it probably varies by state. Although, it looks like I'll have to go to grad school before I can even get back in. I just hope the CST program is still going strong by then.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

At this rate we might not be in Afghanistan much at all after 2014. Not something I would count on. You couldn't pay me enough to be part of a CST. After living here for 7 months... nope.

Specializes in ICU-my whole life!!.

Oh come on! You do not like it?

Just kidding! Hang in there... You are now part of a club where we might not be in that type of conflict for a long time (at least that is what the current administration wants).

You have earned your patch. Wear it proudly.

Are you located in the area where we lost that ANC officer?

No, I'm in RC-East. I believe CPT Moreno was in RC-South. Such a shame. I didn't know her, but I have friends who did. It's a small ANC at the end of the day, isn't it?

Specializes in Surgical.

She was out of JB Lewis-McCord I believe. Some people here in Ft Sam knew her.

Specializes in ICU.

Anyone hear anything yet about being scrolled?

Specializes in Med/Surg.

Hi stephanieholmbeck, what does "being scrolled" mean? Sorry, no military experience/background here.

Any idea how long the scroll process takes? My recruiter said we are waiting on scrolls to come back.

Specializes in EMT, ER, Homehealth, OR.

Being scrolled means that your appointment has been approved by the Senate. How long it takes all depends on the Senate.
