Army Nurse Corps FY2014

Hello,

I haven't seen any activity regarding the Army Nurse Corps. There is an impressive amount of AF/Navy posts which is incredible. I heard from a few recruiters that there are a very small amount of positions in Critical Care. I was told there were many Med-Surg and other specialties available however.

I am applying for Active Duty Critical Care ER for 2014. My application was sent to the board 10/31 and I am supposed to hear back the first week of December. So far I haven't been able to find much of any information on the internet about the program.

Is there anyone else out there? :)

Armyicurn, I hear you. I applied for 66P (FNP) and am also waiting to hear results. I am just confused as to why other people know they are in or not and others don't? I thought we were all under the ANC board on nov 19. Does anyone know? Anyway this is teaching me to improve on my patience...lol:)

Wishing you all the best

Just curious did they give you an estimate on the number of 66P slots available?

Hi Dranger, your not at all arrogant to me, you are just expressing how you see things in there, thanks for being honest. I was very active in my 20's. I was in the ROTC when I was in HS. I did Karate for 3 years. Now..., with kids and work and the winter (hardly have sunshine here), so cozy to just stay in the couch. I'm conditioning myself again though, but I can feel the 15years difference. I ran 2 miles every once in while. I'm well fit, I should say (5ft tall, 99lbs), but cardio need to be developed. Starting to get back on track again, since I heard the news, Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm optimistic person. :) I know you can accomplish anything you like/want if you set your mind into it and of course you work hard for it as well.

You'll be fine! There are a lot of prior service people there willing to help as well. Just keep at the fitness stuff everyday because if for some reason you go in July the heat will have an impact on your run much like elevation would.

Good luck!

Hi all,

With all the anxieties we go through this process I just thought I will say don't forget to PRAY for it answers all. Just words of encouragement and best wishes to everyone! Merry Christmas too:)

Ladyfaaz- I just received my USAREC and Fed board acceptance for ANG as a 66P. I have been an RN for 26 years, 2 years as FNP. (BTW- I am 48:nailbiting:) . Just curious: Have you been told that there is no loan repayment or bonus available to you? I have been put in a PA slot. However, if I were a PA, I would be eligible for loan repayment and bonus. I'm not doing this for the money- but the loan repayment would have been nice. Just wondering if anyone else had been told this.

BKS1-Congrats! I haven't been told anything to that nature on loan repayment. I am still waiting for my confirmation/acceptance from the board. I will let you know if I hear anything though.

Congrats to all of this year's selects! Welcome to the AMEDD and the Army Nurse Corps!

Last I heard, there's no bonus nor loan repayment, hope they'll know more after the holiday. The thought of serving as an Army Nurse is just a great honor. Merry Christmas Everyone! God Bless us all!

Camp Bullis or Ft Sam are really not that bad in the summer. I went through combat medic training back in '06 during the summer and yeah, it was hot (no ac in our tents) it really wasn't that bad. Plus if it was anything like ATI for me- there will be plenty of opportunities for IV hydration. ;) Good luck and congrats!!! I am a senior in a local BSB program and am hoping to start in the Army Reserves and go active when I have enough experience as a nurse. I wish they were a needy a they were in '06.

Reserves to AD is pretty much impossible nowadays even if you have the 2 years experience by the way unless you are a CRNA

Just a heads up to all the new army nurses coming in. I believe Lunah brought up that fact that the Army Nurse Corps is downsizing (they're saying we are at 150% strength), with that, they are increasing the time to promote. Before hand it took 18 months to get 1LT, now its 24 months. 38 months for CPT before, now they are saying 48 months. So you can do your initial 4 year obligation without making CPT by no fault of your own other than not wanting to get out. So keep that in the back of your mind.

Specializes in ICU-my whole life!!.

It is getting harder and harder. Getting into another conflict will rock the numbers.
