Just wondering....
This is a good question. I really hate to say never but I guess there are a few that I wouldn't consider. For safety reasons, I wouldn't consider correctional nursing. For my kids, I wouldn't consider deployment/field nursing for the military, because I am their primary caregiver. I also wouldn't consider going to a 3rd world country or as part of a peace corp type of mission for the same reason, although for the future, way on down the line once my kids are grown, I would like to do something like that.
I really doubt I could do flight nursing as I'm severely overweight, so that's a never from them to me
And personally, I do not think I would be a good fit for psych nursing. I'm not saying totally never, because who knows, but I'm saying probably never to that one. Everything else is up for discussion pretty much.
1.) Dermatology - I can handle most things (feces, sputum etc.) but skin is sooooo gross to me. No pun intended, but some skin disorders make MY skin crawl. :barf01:
2.) Burn Unit - Can't get passed the smell
3.) LTC/SNF - I commened nurses that work here, I just can't see myself being happy here
4.) Rehab - These nurses are amazing for what they do, it just isn't for me
5.) Case managment - Seems booorrrriiinnngggg (IMHO)

I would have to say LTC and geriatrics or Psych. I think the nurses who have the heart to work with the elderly or the mentally ill are wonderful people. I just don't see myself being able to do the work. I start thinking about my grandma with alzheimers and I feel very depressed for her. This is not how she wanted to spend her last years.
