Nurses General Nursing Article

There has been a lot of discussion in the news as well as here on allnurses the past several days regarding negative comments made by "The View" host, Joy Behar regarding the nursing profession. These comments have sparked outrage in not only the entire nursing community, but the public as well.

Brian McLane, CEO of Safe ID Trust's mother is a nurse, and has been for more than 30 years. She has earned the respect of her colleagues and most importantly, her patients. Mrs. McLane was outraged when she heard of the comments on the The View regarding nurses. She knows all nurses give a lot of themselves in their chosen career.

Yes, they use THEIR stethoscopes for physical assessments and, then utilizing critical thinking skills, implement the proper care for their patients.

Mrs. McLane talked with her son, Brian. He decided he wanted to use his company, Safe ID Trust to give back to the nursing community and to recognize the importance of nurses. Not only was his mother a nurse, but other family members are nurses and some have also been on the receiving end of nursing care. Mrs. McLane and her son have come up with an opportunity in which they can give back to nurses and show them how important they are.

We are proud to announce that allnurses and CEO Brian McLane of SafeIDTrust will be joining forces to honor nurses across the country. allnurses has been selected to be the avenue through which SafeIDTrust will give away 10,000 one-year family memberships to their identity theft recovery plan to nurses and nursing students who are registered members of allnurses.

What is identity theft and why should nurses be concerned?

According to the U.S. Department of Justice,

Quote
"identity theft is defined as the unauthorized use or attempted misuse of an existing credit card other existing account, the misuse of personal information to open a new account or for another fraudulent purpose, or a combination of these types of misuse."

"Did you know that approximately 1 in 30 consumers will have their identity stolen this year? If you do not have a quality ID Theft Recovery Plan for you and your family, you are at risk for spending countless hours and thousands of dollars trying to restore your identity."

Identity theft can ruin a person's credit, reputation, and future. Identity Theft is so much more than credit card theft. It can include a person assuming your identity and being arrested in YOUR name, buying a car or home or even getting married. Some cases are more complicated than others. Some of the most horrendous identity thefts include tax fraud, medical fraud, and legal ramifications of crimes committed in someone's name.

Identity theft can happen to anyone, including children.

The hard fact is that identities cannot be protected from being stolen.

Aren't all Identity Theft products the same?

SafeIDTrust is different from most Identity Theft products on the market in that it focuses almost exclusively on recovery. The FTC continues to state that Identity Theft cannot be prevented. Even one of the main credit reporting agencies reported a huge breach of consumer data this year. It's not a matter of "if", but "when" you information will be breached.

SafeIDTrust uses a company that does monitor and reports any threat it detects. Once you are concerned you have a breach, simply contact SafeIDTrust through the number provided after registration and you will be assigned a ID Counselor who will walk you through the initial steps. That includes filing a police report and signing a limited power of attorney so SafeIDTrust can make calls and send letters on your behalf. From there it's total "hands-off" recovery. Most people find their identity restored to "pre-breach" status in 90 days or less.

Quote
Studies show that most people spend anywhere from 175 to 600 hours in restoring their identity to pre-theft status. This equates to 4 to 5 40-hour workweeks. Unfortunately, one out of 4 people who become a victim of identity theft never fully restore their identity

For our nurses, the amount of time it takes to restore a breach is exhausting. Since it has to be done during work hours, it can drastically affect a persons' work day. The stress and hassles associated with trying to restore ones' identity are massive. It is a job best left to experts.

Are current nursing students eligible for this offer as well?

Not at this time. Being a licensed nurse is a requirement of Safe ID Trust. But keep watching in case this changes.

I tried going back and resubmitting it, but it wouldn't allow me to as it said my email address had already been used. Hm.

Will do...thanks!

I just enrolled and encountered 2 error messages, but just tried again and bingo! It took me about 1 minute or less total, even with the re-directs. And now I'm protected, what a great feeling!

THANK YOU Brian McLane, Mrs. McLane, and allnurses for this gift. I am really appreciative of the kindness.
