Hi. I am a LPN student. I have a question. Are most LPN's being phased out? Was it hard for you to find a job? Have you heard of this in your work place? A lot of people are telling me this, and I don't know if this is true.
Please answer back with any information you have.
Also, how hard was it in the nursing classes you have taken?
Thanks

Babygirl at one time they did phase out the LPN's from the hospitals around here (KY), but they are bringing them back because they see that the RN's cannot do patient care and paperwork by themselves as well. Hope that makes you feel better.

I live in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas. There's plenty of LVN/LPN jobs around here. I only have 2 years of experience, but I can usually pick and choose where I work. One time I sent 9 resumes, and received 5 callbacks within that same week.
Some parts of the country are phasing LPNs out of the hospital setting, but there are plenty of positions in nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, hospice, psychiatric hospitals, prisons, jails, clinics, and other healthcare settings.

What I learned during my job search in NY state was this...Many hospitals here do hire LPN'S but there are not as many openings. There are plenty of jobs for nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and there are MANY adds for doctors offices(cardio, family practice, peds, OB-GYN ect.). I like my hours at the doctors office, I have no weekends, and no holidays. There are some early evening hours but thats okay by me.

They've been saying that for 20 years and with the nursing shortage I don't put any stock in it. Good luck with school!

I graduated from LPN school in the 1970's. I was told at that time that LPN's were being phased out. I haven't had any problems finding a job.

I live in northern Ohio and there are jobs everywhere. In fact, another LPN school just opened this year. I have not had a problem finding a job. :)
