  1. Hi I really need to give some advice to my older daughter and am hoping you can help. I have 2 daughters that work for 2 separate doctors offices. One has a wonderful office but my oldest had a terrible experience. It was like high school all over again. Unprofessional, gossipy, clicky but she stuck it out. Her doctor removed her from work for 2 weeks due to complications of her pregnancy and thats when things got really bad. My daughter had taken her vacation time prior to being removed and it was an approved vacation by her office manager. When she got her paycheck this week she saw they had not paid her. They claimed she had taken the vacation time without approval and therefore she was denied her vacation time. Well my daughter had e-mails at work that proved she was ok'd by the office manager so she went into the office to print them off and lo and behold they had gone into her e-mail and deleted everyone of them...But luckily there was a girl working that did not know what was going on and she had also had correspondence with the office manger stating my daughters vacation was approved...My daughter asked her to print the e-mail and she did but before my daughter got out of the office this worker was informed of the situation and she demanded the e-mail back from my daughter but my daughter just walked out...15 minutes later my daughter got a text message from this office worker stating if my daughter tried to use that e-mail they would say she stole it...this is the craziest thing I have ever heard and now there is no way my daughter can return to that job...and they are refusing to pay her...So my question is where should she report this? Thank-you.
  2. The Veterans hospital in Syracuse hires LPN's and you will get a ton of experince there. Great Benefits too! Another option is a doctors office. There are many to choose from. Best Wishes :)

This is not really a nursing question but hopefully I can find an answer. I am applying for a scholarship to go back to school and it asks for the GPA of my most current schooling. I graduated LPN school and they sent my grades but not a GPA. How would I figure my GPA. My grades for all the courses were: 85, 89. 82, 91. 86. 93. 100. 92. 90. 86. How do I get a GPA for this. My whole averages was a 89.4 but GPA's are 4.0's and down. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Jean
  4. I need to make clear she gave an adult vaccine and it it should have been a child's. That was the mistake. The doctor did not talk to the family the only thing that was said was that it was an inexperinced nurse gave an adult does of pneumonia and it should have been a childs does. My sister read the report and it was never documented that it was brought to the doctor first to make sure it was the correct vaccine. It is a small private practice. How can she find out if it was reported to the state? Jean
  5. I had 85 questions and passed...most pass with 85 so try and relax :) Jean
  6. very much agree with this..something just does not ring right. jean

Thanks for all your great ideas...she has been silent the last few days..i am giving it back :) Jean
  8. CONGRATS CONGRATS:lol2: CONGRATS:yeah: GO CELEBRATE!
  9. I have heard of very few that fail at 85..in fact my ATI instructor told me they have never had a student fail at 85. I think its good you found the questions easy. Don't read to much into how hard you think the test was...I really bet you passed and the odds are in your favor :) Jean
  10. Please let us know as soon as you find out even though I will bet its a big fat PASS!!!!! Jean
  11. I agree I have heard about a wide range of people geeting 165, 150, 170's ect...the number of questions does not determine if you pass or fail. I had 85 and passed, my step-mom had 89 and passed and my sister had 205 and passed. So try and keep yourself busy as you wait :) When do u get your results? Jean
  12. I 100% understand what you are saying here. I am in a family practice and have only been there about 4 months. I know this is not where I want to stay the rest of my life. Its really nice and its great having weekends and holidays but I want the chance to work in a hospital too. My plans are to go back to school in the fall full time at our local college. I am hoping to maybe get a pt time job somewhere. Best wishes to you..I would try the online school. I am taking a English course online and its not to bad at all. Jean
  13. before i began my program i took a course in medical terminology. its important because you learn how to break down words. it really helped me. i am sure there are some great flash cards out there. what really helped me while i was in school was the saunders pn review. everytime we covered a section i would go through the review book outlines and do all the practice questions. when clinicals began i got lpn facts made incredibly quick! (incredibly easy! series) (spiral-bound) by [color=#003399]springhouse . this was great...the first day of clinicals when all the other students saw this little pocket book they all ran out and got one :) best wishes to you. jean

hahahaha egglady....that was good. i thought about saying with a smile..."do you get the senior citizen discount where you shop?"....yes i guess i need to let her know instead of steaming inside. At first it did not bother me at all because i am use to it but after a month of it well it got old. thanks for all of your advice to all of you. and i am proud of the fact that i am an lpn at 18....thanks again :)

I have a question on how best to handle something. I just don't have the experience and still don't have the thickest skin yet. There is a secretary(she is older) that constantly rags on me about my age...because I am 18. She makes remarks like "so do you buy your scrubs in the toddlers section" or "make sure you get in bed by your bed time"...i have ignored it for a month but its starting to get under my skin now..she says it half joking but it honestly is old at this point. I get sick of being reminded of my age. The nurses all treat me well(except for a few that are mostly indifferent)...i just am not sure how to handle this. Should I just continue to ignore it.... I want to be respectful and not come off like a cry baby but in my opinion its no different if someone were ragging on about being a senior citizen..advice? Jean
