Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Published

I am a new nurse, immersed in a new (nursing) culture.

Most of my coworkers seem outspoken and very extroverted, however we have a few 'quiet leaders' on the unit.

All of the personality testing I have done puts me just on the brink - between extrovert and introvert.

I am left wondering...are most nurses extovert or introvert?

What do you think?

I am definitely an introvert. I am extremely quiet in new situations but when I warm up and feel more comfortable around people it's a totally different ball game. Actually I go out of my way to not be in new situations where I am meeting new people and do tend to be a bit of a loner.

I would say I'm both... depends on the situation but I vary on both extremes:)

i'm the introvert with a big mouth.

I'm a pretty strong introvert. I think you just have to find the right environment for you, no matter what type you are.

I think the true definition of introvert and extrovert (at least with MBTI) refers more to where you draw your energy from...outside sources or from within yourself.

Yep - Meyer's Briggs says "introvert" . . . .

Introvert unless I am with people I know and trust; for my patients/residents running my mouth comes easy.

Overall, I'm a tried and true introvert. However, at times, I take on the appearance of an extrovert. I have no problems standing up for myself and for others and can be really outgoing in certain situations but for the most part I draw the most energy and motivation from within.

I'm an introvert.

A poster said above it has to do with whether you're enrgized with being with people, or drained at the end of the day. I like working with patients and staff, but at the end of the day, I need alone time.

Introvert. INFP to be exact.

Im usually an introvert, but depending on my mood I can become extroverted real quickly! lol

I'm definitely more introverted, though if I know I need to speak up i.e. advocate for a patient or coworker, I will. I honestly have a hard time advocating for myself, though I'm working on it.

According to the test I'm an introvert (ISFJ), which I tend to agree with, but I seem to do well in the nursing setting. But I also love to be out with people in some settings, it kinda depends though. So to each his or her own............ :jester:
