I just finished my Master's thesis and something in my data made me curious. One part of my project was to administer the Sense of Humor Questionnaire. One of the questions was:
"Do you consider yourself impulsive?"
you can answer on a scale of 1 - 4
1 = no not at all!
2 = no
3 = yes
4 = yes indeed!
I noticed that the groups of nursing staff that answered were alike in response, depending on their type of unit.
My question to you is, how do you answer this question?
and what type of unit do you work on?
Thanks for scratching this itch!
The study was about using humor to increase working group cohesiveness. I added the sense of humor questionnaire (SHQ) in the mix to see if there was any correlation between high scores on the SHQ and increased feelings of cohesiveness at the pre-test. I found that it didn't matter what your sense of humor was, all scores across the board were average.
What I did see was that nursing staff in the more acute settings were answering yes indeed to the impulsive question. I was just curious if that was just a function of where I work or if those of us who like the fast pace of a unit with a high acuity level, think of ourselves as impulsive... hi my name is wolfpax and I am a 4.
As far as personalities and professions go, I don't know, but I would take a wild guess from having read and participated in this forum that we are a mixed bag within our ranks, which is neat.
