I personally cannot live without makeup.I feel plain and unkept without makeup. It's apart of me.It makes me feel feminine. Will I be able to continue wearing makeup up on the job?

I LOVE blue mascara and I have brown eyes. I use Max Factor #285 on my lips and occasionally wear foundation for my 11p-7a shifts. So I look alive, sometimes just barely, lol.

I'd rather have the extra ten minutes of sleep in the morning.

I tend to wear it in on the evening shift IF I had it on during the day.

Hell, as long as I'm clean and in a clean uniform, who cares?

Yes... Without makeup on I would really scare my patients!

I can totally relate!

I could say use a little common sense - but, that won't accomplish much.

I wear enough to be presentable. I think it is IMPORTANT to be clean, well groomed and appear professional. Leave the "club" make-up, ghetto nails, bejeweled look and fragrance where it belongs - it DOES NOT belong in the world of patient care.

I wash my face when I go to bed on shift. And NO, I DO NOT apply make-up before I can leave on a call! (Yep, I've seen it done!) I have had nurses that I work with be just shocked at such an act. They asked: "What if someone you see someone at 3 am and you DON'T have ANY make-up on. What will you do?" My reply: Well, I'll most likely be saving their life so I think they may be able to forgive me. After all, we need to keep some perspective!

Anyway, that is my world. History lesson! For the record, IF you choose to put on lipstick on the way to a house fire - one of the guys will notice. And you will be ridden like a fairground pony for that lapse in judgement. But, you will look nice while fighting fire. :) See, we all have to learn!

Practice SAFE!

Gosh I am glad I am of the opposite gender. I would not do well if I had to put war paint on every day.

I favor the Male (very) low maintenance plan. No guard haircut on sides. One guard on top. and a daily shave. Hard to beat for convenience.

I always wear makeup to work, but not as much as I'd wear out. Usually just mascara and eye concelear (when I'm looking tired!). I usually wear waterproof mascara, so it doesn't run down my face when I'm running around. ;)

my entire regimen, between makeup and hair, takes under 10 minutes.

actually.....probably closer to 7.

very no-nonsense person here.

Yes, but my wife thinks its weird......:lol2:

Specializes in LTC, office.

I always wear foundation, lipstick, mascara, eye shadow and eye liner. On the rare days I don't feel up to eye makeup I always hear I look tired.

Hair is super quick; pulled back in a ponytail almost every day. I love that. ;)

I believe so.....I would see why not. You might be restricted in wearing perfume (for respiratoy reasons) but makeup should be okay if done tastefully.

I couldn't/wouldn't work somewhere that doesn't allow any makeup..but that said..I doubt such a place exists.

I naturally have dark undereye circles..so I always have on makeup. If I don't..I look sick and tired...2 things I don't want my pts worrying about.
