Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
but in test taking, we are also taught not to pass the buck right???
thats true! but in a situation like this where there is a disaster, the type of leadership turns into an autocratic type instead of the democratic type which a regular situation would need. so i would go up the chain of command. charge nurse starts the disaster plan, calls the disaster center to get any info he/she can find out about the situation, get everybody in order to start discharging stable patients and clearing out the ER and then just barking out orders to everyone. at least this is how i learned it when it came to disasters.
someone correct me if i am wrong. i also used to think that this was passing the buck.

changing of the type of leadership from democratic to autocratic is the right way to handle an emergercy and i have encountered such question too and definitely the correct answer is autocratic so only one can man the whole situation but as for the other question...we don't want to be the cause of the delay right??? this is only my:twocents: anyone can share their views on this:typing
Well Steve, you got us thinking anyway! I'm glad you posted that question because to tell the truth, I wasn't really sure what the answer was... I just went with what I THINK should have been done. Following the chain of command versus passing the buck types of scenerios can be quite tricky.

i cant quote a book on what i just blurted out but i do know that when i was answering questions on qbank with kaplan this same type of question came out a couple of times and everytime it said to notify the supervisor following the chain of command.

my thoughts are, what if you happen to not get a hold of the supervisor before it's too late?
