April 2008 NCLEX test takers, COME ON IN!

Published

Per the request of janina08 ;) I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :) :nurse:

I just took the nclex yesterday at 8am in the morning and I am dying waiting for the results. It was a really odd configuration...

1 math

some med surge

a bunch of pharm

like 3 SATA

one where you had to put things in order

and a zillion infection control

what's with the infection control??!?!?!?

I ended up having like 84 questions? What have others who have taken it seen?????

what's with the infection control??!?!?!?

The thing with infection control is that that's what you're seeing right now in real life. There's a huge outbreak of MRSA and VRE and since it's so common, the NCLEX is now going crazy testing on it. My last semester prof told us that in years past she'd never seen that many infection control questions. (Most of the people who pass NCLEX email her and tell her the type of questions there are so that she can pass it on to the seniors in her classes.) In the hospital setting, you'd be surprised how many people are in isolation because of MRSA and VRE. It's rather sad, but it's a type of epidemic that unfortunately, we're all getting used to.

Btw, I'm sure you did fine on your exam. Good luck! :)

any tips on answering sata?? hehehe,, thanks..

i was taught by one of our professors that with a select all that apply question, treat them as true/false

[color=#00bfff]she said to take one selection at a time. cover up or dont look at the other answers not to confuse yourself. i started doing that and have been getting almost all of my sata questions correct.

[color=#00bfff]i hope this help you. it helped me a lot. :twocents:

Hi Mave,

I am taking my NCLEX next tuesday 15th.

I ve being doing Kaplan and Saunders and still very nervous. Can't seem to pull more than 69 in kaplan (Saunders I'm doing much better, but also are a lot easier).

I am studyng a lot. I mean A LOT, and still going nuts. I just can't wait for this to over.

Anyway, count me in the list for April.

Good Luck to everyone.

OK guys, I know I have been stressing out and crying like CRAZY! But those days are gone!!!! I just found out I PASSED! WITH ONLY 5 SATA!!!! I PASSED!

I am NOW:

Genny RN, BSN, MPA

LORD HAVE MERCY!

GOSH, Suzanne is a very very strict person but her plan works!!!!!

Strange b/c I was worried since Saunders is much easier than Kaplan.... but I used it and it worked!

I can't believe it... I AM A REGISTERED NURSE!

yes, i did suzannes plan.... and it does work.... i don't really know how... but i think it gives you an opportunity to get familiar with the content and take question each day.... its good! i even saw one questions that was very similar to a question in saunders...

Hello all. I just took my test on Monday, April 7th at 8am! I was a complete basket case for the last 48 hours waiting for my results... but I checked the quick resuts this morning and it said "pass"! I am soooo relieved!! I have been an emotional wreck the past few months in anticipation of this test so I am extremely happy and can now really focus on other things like my first baby due in July!

My test cut of at 77/78 in just under 2 hours (I'm a slow test taker). I was really surprised and didn't know what to think when it cut off at such an odd number right after the minimum 75. I had a lot of priority/delegation q's, 3-4 calculation, a number of SATA, quite a bit of infection/isolation precaution q's, and a number of drugs (most of which I was uncertain about).

My advice is to think the questions through, take your time, and give it your best EDUCATED guess.

Congratulations to all that have passed sooo far!!! And, good luck to those of you waiting to take it. Just try your best and try not to stress too much (I know, easier said than done.)
