Published

Hello everyone,

I decided to start a thread for those taking nclex in april 2009 so we can support and encourage each other. Please share your thoughts, fears, anything.....What you are using to prepare etc.

This will be my second time taking nclex. First time (nov 12, 2008), i had 75 questions....felt horrible when i found out i did not pass. I made a study plan and promised myself to stick to it and not procastinate, gave myself 6 wks of studying. I am studying saunders 4th ed for content review, doing questions from saunders cd and nclex 3500. I plan to re-take nclex on april 1st, 2009. I am hoping for the best for all of us yet to pass nclex.

UPDATE: I just found out that i passed.....I am an RN.....Thank you Jesus and my allnurses family

Congrats Luv...I wish that one day (sooner) to feel the same joy and happyness...you

don't want to share with us your study plan?

I changed my date also so I will go for 22 ...and I still feel unprepared....

Thanks ellany69....this was my 2nd time taking NCLEX-RN... i studied using Saunders for content and the CD for questions. I also used nclex3500 for back up but mainly concentrated with Saunders. I wish you the best ellany...

Thnks Luv...how many hours a day and since when?

100q/day?

I tryed Saunders in the beggining but is look so hard...so many information...

so I decide to stay Only with Kaplan...so far everything looks good but i have to

see the final exam...

I studied for 5 weeks from Saunders.....3 hours studying.....did between 100q-265q per day for 5 wks....i studied one system at a time...for example if i did cardio...i would study cardio peds and cardio adult...then the next day i would do cardio meds (a whole day to concentrate on meds section)...i learned better that way.... Thanks everyone again and best of luck to everyone who's yet to take nclex

Update everyone I passed!!! I am now a rn!!!!

i'm planning to take my 3rd time on april 17. i'm polishing my self up with the handouts i got from excell review class. since this is my third time, i already have an idea of the exam and i can say that the handouts have the topics of questions i got from my previous exams so i'm comfortable of just reading the handouts as my sole review material but i still check medlineplus.com for additional infos on drugs and illnesses.....

i'm still having a hard time familliarizing drugs on both generic and brand name to determine the function, side effects and toxicity that i need to watch out for so hopefully before 17th, my brain will remember them on the time i needed to remember them the most....

Specializes in E.R., post-surgical.

I am hoping to test for the first time this month. Still waiting for the BON and Excelsior College to get their stuff together. I am using the NCSBN program, along with looking thru Kaplan and Saunders. I hope to tell you guys soon that I passed. My graduation date if 4/17 and I am not even excitied about that!!!! I just want a test date. How crazy is that??????

luv

i was wondering, what do you mean by you studied for three hours? three hours from saunders and the rest of the day you did questions? please give me some advice on how you studied for 5wks because that is the same amount of time i am giving myself. please help thank you

I too fall into this category. I failed nclex back in early March at 265 questions, and is rescheduled to take it again the end of the month. I am pretty freaked out because I know the chances are still 50/50. Its pretty sad that today I had to call the bank to get a deferment on my loans. Too bad we don't have a live study group going on. Well, back to studying and good luck to everyone!
