Hello everyone,
I decided to start a thread for those taking nclex in april 2009 so we can support and encourage each other. Please share your thoughts, fears, anything.....What you are using to prepare etc.
This will be my second time taking nclex. First time (nov 12, 2008), i had 75 questions....felt horrible when i found out i did not pass. I made a study plan and promised myself to stick to it and not procastinate, gave myself 6 wks of studying. I am studying saunders 4th ed for content review, doing questions from saunders cd and nclex 3500. I plan to re-take nclex on april 1st, 2009. I am hoping for the best for all of us yet to pass nclex.
hi everyone, i started this thread and wanted to update you all that i just got back from taking nclex (i rescheduled from 1st to 2nd so i get a whole day prior to rest). Today would be my 2nd time taking the exam and i had 75 questions again. It was tough....i studied and did questions from saunders and nclex 3500. I really do hope and pray that i pass this time. And to the rest of you all, i wish you the best. I will update when i get my result.
I just took it for the third time and failed. I took the Hurst review and improved on all my scores including the Exam Cram, NCLEX 4000 cd, and Saunders 3rd Edition CD. Even after knowing much more than I did the second time around, I digressed to getting basic questions on BP and dehydration. Go figure, you improve your practice scores and get dumber on the NCLEX. Another broke ass month and a half lies ahead of me. Xanax or Zoloft anyone?
Hey everbody..........i test on april 21, 2009. Its crazy, but i tested twice already and i did learning extension, which i think was great, i followed the suzannes plan that said do questions and if you dont score 75 review the chapter. Nclex 3500, mosby. What i do is questions in study mode, get immediate feedback and commend it to memory. I try to do one large comprehensive exam per week that is 150 questions mixed from every area. I take the time to review that and then start again the next week study mode etc. I try to do 3hrs per day and then gather my labs and at least five medications per day. I find that you have to first sit down and formulate a plan that you think will work for you stick to it for six weeks before test date. Try to write less and commend stuff to memory. You cant take notes to the test, but you sure can take your memory. Plus writing take away time. Read something read again, do a couple questions on it if you are unsure then leave it alone. Hope this helps the aprilers...............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will pass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hear you screaming!! Somehow, in some way we will be better for going thru this experience (don't ask why, just feel it then let it go)! It sucks, believe me I know-in everyway (confidence, motivation, success, lack of income, stagnate, bummed, depressed, embarrassed), BUT.... it can only get better, eh? I too took it 3 times with no success BUT I am thankful for becoming a more efficient and well rounded studier. What I have gained I would never give back, perhaps the journey I would defiantly modify but that's out of my control. Take a deep breath, and again, it will be alright! (Please remind me of this when I'm freaking out again). Feel free to contact me for anything, just to vent it okay and/or just to toss around ideas/options.
Cheers,
mommys_nya

Good luck to all of you who are taking nclex in April! I just found out that I failed for the 2nd time:bluecry1: I am very very discouraged but I am going to try again for the 3rd time in Mary or June. I used Hurst review for the first time and really didnt find it helpful but some of my friends liked it. I used the Kaplan strategy book and prioritization, delegation, and assginment by La charity for my secound time around and I really liked it and I thought I was going to pass this time but no... I didn't. I am going to use Sanders this time since I am seeing lots of good reviews on Sanders. Anyway, good luck to all of us and I know we all can make it!
