This may be a far fetched thread but I am planning on applying next fall (or second half of year June 2nd-Dec 31st) for the Fall 2015 start AP BSN program (also applying on campus just to cover my bases). A little jealous that other schools like TWU can apply in the semester before the they are looking to start. Either way I was thinking this thread could help those who are needing to know the process and others who have info from advisors that could share with the rest of us. So here are my questions:
A. I have not taken HESI yet but UTA's does not require sciences from what I have found online and been told by others. Any tips on preparing for this? Which prereqs would you recommend having done prior to testing?
*B. Transferring outside pre-nursing requisites Intro to Nursing, Patho and Pharm. I got info from an advisor that I must fax a "portfolio" including an official transcript, copies of catalog description of course from college, and copy of syllabi for each course. Has anyone else done this and is this done AFTER courses are completed and appear on transcript? Or before the classes are taken? I am considering Brookhaven for these. Is it possible these NOT be approved? Did anyone stack these courses Intro and Pharm same semester or Patho and pharm?
C. UTA upper division elective. Medical Terminology is what is accepted for UTA AP BSN program. How have others taken the course? Such as online, over summer, flex term?
*As you can see B is my biggest concern.
If there is anything else someone would like to add please feel free. I want this thread to help make the application process as smooth as possible for others as well.
Thank you!
I believe it mean that you don't have to worry about it YET, maybe because of the people who filed the application earlier get background checked earlier? Or maybe it has to do with their advisor, some decide to send it now and some others prefer to send it later? Who knows is so confusing.
Beth 0504, I think it has a lot to do with the advisor. I think some are being proactive and letting students know ahead of time to avoid an influx of emails, but not all of them are taking this approach. I emailed my advisor who confirmed the dates, but a friend of mine with the same advisor still didn't get any type of notification.
I'll be Part Time and I also have a PRN position, but the PRN is much more flexible. I don't necessarily have to do so many shifts per month or pay period. If I had to cut back at the Part Time position I could probably go PRN there as well. I do know of students who have gone through the AP BSN program and worked almost full time hours, but obviously that is more demanding and your hours still must be flexible around clinicals.
Hi all -Will any of you fellow applicants be working full time AND doing AP-BSN?
I'll be working full-time; however, my job is very amenable to my needs. I'm allowed to study and do class work during downtime, so they are very flexible. Considering the majority of clinical hours are on the weekend, I don't see a need to quit my job; however, when clinical hours are on a weekday, I will simply utilize my sick/vacation time.

Yes, I got both e-mails. I did talk to my advisor a couple of weeks back and she informed me they were aiming for mid-march. I'm hoping its true and we hear something the week of March 18-23. Let's hope we all hear good news!
