  1. Does anyone know how the semesters work? For example, J1 semester includes Clinical Foundations, Holistic Assessment, and Health Promotion. Do all these classes have the same start date? Or do they run end to end, one after the other, through the entire semester? J2 includes Nursing of Adults, Psychiatric, Older Adults, and Research. I would think that we would do Adults during clinicals for adults, Psych during our psyc rotation, etc, but what do I know, lol. Also, do clinicals start in J1? Or prep for clinicals J1 and start J2? Thanks all:)
  2. We should exchange notes: I'm taking Patho right now, and Pharm this summer!!
  3. Nope - tumbleweeds blowing through my inbox.....
  4. Two questions as we all stalk our emails for the next 3 days: 1. IF we are accepted into the program, when do we find out what hospital we are assigned to? Or do the hospitals change depending on the particular clinical/classes? 2. The AP-BSN Online group ONLY has clinicals on the weekends, correct? Sat/Sun? Isn't that the point of doing the program online? I've heard so much conflicting info, I just thought I would ask .....
  5. Hi all - Will any of you fellow applicants be working full time AND doing AP-BSN?
  6. Hello all - After 4 semesters of online classes, both at UTA and elsewhere, I am VERY curious how the lower level nursing classes (patho, pharm, micro, Intro to nursing, etc) compare with the upper level classes. Is the workload similar? Time frame? Rigor? When you are doing your UL classes + clinicals, do the clinicals serve as class time? IE, are you being taught during clinincals what you will be tested on in the class? Or are classes totally separate from what's going on in clinicals, and its essentially being a full time student with 4 classes/semester while "working" the 2-days each week at the hospital? I hope my question makes sense. Thank you in advance to anyone with experience who can shed some light on this issue!
  7. I have applied for the Fall '16 class of the newly renamed AO-BSN program. UTA's website states that the program "can be completed in as little as 15 months." My question is: do you HAVE to complete it in that timeframe? Or do you have the option of taking longer? The syllabus lists J1 as 12 hrs, J2 as 14, S1 as 13, and S2 as 12. (3 classes, 4 classes, 3 classes, and 4 classes.) The question: do you HAVE to take all 3 classes as J1 or can you take 2, then the 3rd class from J1 + one class from J2 the next semester, etc, and just have your BSN program take longer? Is that even an option? Thanks for sharing what you know!
  8. carol369 and mrbowser89 - We must all be in the same patho class right now! I've finished 1&2, and am waiting for the test to open - super nervous about the first exam, though, as the prof made it sound next to impossible. How are y'all feeling about it? What's the deal with pharm? I have to take it this summer, so any heads up is good . . . . .
  9. I just logged on for the intro to my Patho class starting tomorrow. Any word on the best way to study for the class?
  10. I have already registered, yes. I'm taking micro through DCCCD and patho through UTA. Hesi is both multiple choice and fill in the blank.
  11. I swear, you are my application twin or something! I just took the HESI last week - really easy. Calculator for math is the old school one on the computer - clunky but it works. I, too, am taking pathogens and micro in January and pharm in the summer with hopes of getting accepted for the Fall '16 class!
  12. A&P was fine, but I haven't taken Patho yet; my advisor said to take Pharm first. Would you agree?
  13. I am applying for UTA Fall 2016 as well. I take my HESI next month to complete my application by January deadline. I have taken my intro to nursing, but will need pharm and micro in the spring. Any suggestions on pros and cons for taking micro (full semester = slow pace) at DCCCD vs micro (short term = fast pace) at UTA? Also, what is pharm like? Easy, hard? Thanks in advance for advice:)
