Applying AP BSN in Fall '15 for Fall '16 start Info!

Published

This may be a far fetched thread but I am planning on applying next fall (or second half of year June 2nd-Dec 31st) for the Fall 2015 start AP BSN program (also applying on campus just to cover my bases). A little jealous that other schools like TWU can apply in the semester before the they are looking to start. Either way I was thinking this thread could help those who are needing to know the process and others who have info from advisors that could share with the rest of us. So here are my questions:

A. I have not taken HESI yet but UTA's does not require sciences from what I have found online and been told by others. Any tips on preparing for this? Which prereqs would you recommend having done prior to testing?

*B. Transferring outside pre-nursing requisites Intro to Nursing, Patho and Pharm. I got info from an advisor that I must fax a "portfolio" including an official transcript, copies of catalog description of course from college, and copy of syllabi for each course. Has anyone else done this and is this done AFTER courses are completed and appear on transcript? Or before the classes are taken? I am considering Brookhaven for these. Is it possible these NOT be approved? Did anyone stack these courses Intro and Pharm same semester or Patho and pharm?

C. UTA upper division elective. Medical Terminology is what is accepted for UTA AP BSN program. How have others taken the course? Such as online, over summer, flex term?

*As you can see B is my biggest concern.

If there is anything else someone would like to add please feel free. I want this thread to help make the application process as smooth as possible for others as well.

Thank you!

Patho test was pretty easy surprisingly. I'm sure it will have it's challenges going forward but hopefully I can continue to do as well as I did on this first exam. MrBowser 89, if you wouldn't mind emailing me whatever RRD's you do have I would most definitely appreciate it. Assignment 2 for Pharm was a little easier so hopefully it will all come together before that exam next week. MillertheGreat hope this first Patho test went well for you!

I'm so sorry carol369. I cant seem to find my RRD's anywhere. Hopefully youre doing great in the class.

Overall GPA: 3.15

Considerations: 2

I'm impatiently waiting for April as well! Lol

I think I'm in classes with you guys! I'm in pharm/patho which is all I had left and I'm waiting to hear back. Did anyone get any emails this past week? Few of us received one type of email and then another peer received a different one. All on the same day! Regardless, 3/18-3/23 can't get here quick enough! Good luck to everyone taking Pharm in a few days!!

I saw that some students received an email stating their application was complete, and others were given information about the background check process as well as the time frame for when they will start notifying people of acceptance. Can anyone clarify specifically what the latter of the two emails stated? It is surprising to me that this would not be sent out to all applicants. I was under the impression the notification time frame would be mid to late April and based on the email we are now looking at March? Any help would be appreciated!!

Sorry--just read your question too. My email stated March 18-March 23 is when email letters would go out.

I don't see my other reply showing up but apparently my peer who received the application complete email, emailed the dean who sent out the other email that I received and she inquired about it. Dean said that it wasn't any indication of admission or acceptance. There's a lot of chatter but so far, that's all I know. I did email the academic advisor who sent out the "complete application" emails for clarification just for my own peace of mind.

Same plan Roxyshah, I'm emailing my advisor for some clarification. I was under the impression that we would not hear about acceptance status until mid to late April. This was of course before their revamp to their website and we lost a lot of the resources that were once available. March sounds better to me of course, but I'm curious as to how accurate this is.

Yeah, I'm confirmed in a few places that March 18-23 is the timeline that I can expect. Sooner the better :) Good luck!!

So I emailed my advisor during the weekend to ask about this and she said if we dont receive the background check email then we dont have to worry about it YET.

Emailed my advisor over the weekend and she also confirmed that they are shooting for that date range. A whole month ahead of schedule! Good luck to everyone applying!!
