Applicants to Portland area Nursing Programs for 2015

U.S.A. Oregon

Hi everyone! I am so excited that application season for 2015 is finally here. I am new to this board, but read several threads last year and learned a lot in preparation for my own applications. It would be great to hear from others who are in the same boat this year. :)

I have a BA in History, but have completed most of my pre-req's at PCC. My cumulative GPA is only 3.46, but my pre-req's will be a 4.0 (provided this Fall term continues to go well...) My top choice is UP, partly because I work for Providence and would love to continue to work for them as a nurse one day. I would also LOVE to go to OHSU of course! I am also applying to Linfield, PCC and possibly CCC. I am curious to hear which programs people are applying for. Such an exciting time to be moving towards our career goals!

Just got an email from MHCC for an interview! Now just waiting on Clackamas...

Specializes in NP-S that started clinical rotations!.

How many points did you have for PCC? Just curious everyone.

I'm also curious about how the waiting list (or alternate list) works. Is it a separate email?

No idea... they didn't send me anything about the first 60 points they score.

Actually, disregard my first reply to your post! I emailed out of curiosity if we could find out. The lady who our proctored email is sent to us by will send you a frank response about your points received from the first tier. I found out how many I had! She told me I had 54 out of 60 points. I lost 3 full points from not doing my pre-reqs at PCC, and probably a few more for not having a 4.0 GPA, but more like a 3.8-9 in the pre-reqs. Pretty sure I had full points for work experience and having all my pre-reqs completed when my application was submitted (including A&P), plus an additional point for having a prior degree (bachelor's). She doesn't break it down for you, but that is my best guess for my points received.

Specializes in NICU.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say I turned down my interview invites at PCC and OHSU, as well as formerly declined acceptance at WWU and UP. Hopefully this is good news to anyone on the wait list!

Whoa! I'm sure you made some people very happy. Why did you turn all of those opportunities down??

Specializes in NICU.

I was accepted into my top choice program, Seattle University:)

I'm also doing the essay on the 14th at 9am!

Hey everyone! I'm so excited/anxious about this years application process! This will be my second year applying. I have the proctored essay with Chemeketa on the 11th and an interview with Clackamas on the 22nd. For those who applied to Clackamas what do your points look like? I have a 3.8 GPA and have 55.88/64 points with CCC. Good luck all!

I had 54 at both PCC and CCC. I'm soooo nervous and so excited to be so close to the end of this (hopefully)!

Hi all. I'm nervously preparing to interview at OHSU, PCC, CCC, and MHCC before next Friday. I can't wait for this decision to be out of my hands again! @asatrum, I had 57 points at CCC and I'm so glad that was high enough. I'm looking forward to seeing some of you at interviews and hopefully in class this fall!
