Applicants to Portland area Nursing Programs for 2015

U.S.A. Oregon

Hi everyone! I am so excited that application season for 2015 is finally here. I am new to this board, but read several threads last year and learned a lot in preparation for my own applications. It would be great to hear from others who are in the same boat this year. :)

I have a BA in History, but have completed most of my pre-req's at PCC. My cumulative GPA is only 3.46, but my pre-req's will be a 4.0 (provided this Fall term continues to go well...) My top choice is UP, partly because I work for Providence and would love to continue to work for them as a nurse one day. I would also LOVE to go to OHSU of course! I am also applying to Linfield, PCC and possibly CCC. I am curious to hear which programs people are applying for. Such an exciting time to be moving towards our career goals!

Hi! I'm applying to PCC a second time after speaking to an advisor about retaking a couple courses that were in the B range! I now have all A's and 1 B from Anatomy II! Plus a few years of being a CNA and now CNA2 under my belt. I'm excited to hear back! My app has been in since October 20th, haha, so I have just been waiting, waiting, waiting!

That's great, I've heard that "A's" in the anatomy series is one of the best ways to get in. I retook the first term for an A as well. I can't believe your application has been in for months already! I bet your wait has felt like years already, haha. I still need to turn in my PCC application, hopefully later this week. Where do you work as a CNA? Good luck!

I'm waiting and waiting as well. Ugh, long process :) I turned in 5 applications and hope to get accepted to at least one. That's all I need: one. Preferably at PCC.

I know, I am already having a hard time being patient, haha. Only 3 weeks or so till we hear from University of Portland, though. Did either of you apply there? I can't remember when PCC invites applicants for the written essay...not until March?

PCC is end of March, beginning of April :/ long time it seems. I hate waiting haha

I've applied to 4 different programs (MHCC, CCC, PCC, and OHSU's AccBacc program). I can't wait to hear back about interviews! I hope I get in to at least one program. I'm a returning student... in my late twenties, going for a second Bachelor's degree. Anyway, good luck to everyone that applied around the Portland area!

I work in a post-hospitalization rehab unit! Prior to that, an alzheimer and dementia home and in assisted living! Yes, waiting since October has felt like years... I submitted an application to the University of Portland last month though! So I am just waiting on that as well. I'm hoping for some luck in getting into one program... best wishes to you all too!

Did anyone who applied to UP, recieve a confirmation their transcripts had been received? I sent mine to them, about a month before I submitted my application. I emailed them to no avail.

I did get several "we received your application" emails, but nothing confirmed re: the transcripts. I actually went in to talk to the admissions coordinator to confirm everything was received a few weeks ago and she was very helpful. Maybe you could try calling the office?

Same here on the email front, I did try calling the admission office but as of yet have not been able to get through. I'll just keep persisting. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I did recieve an email confirming they received everything! From responses last year it looks like we could hear from UP in the next two weeks.
