I will be starting an MSN program in the next few months and I heard that I better get my APA formatting skills together. I used a program in nursing school years ago that did the dirty work and made life easier but I can't remember what program i used:down:. I am pretty sure it was an APA generator. So I ask: What APA format generator would you recommend?

Was it PERRLA? That's what I use.

Was it Dr. Paper?
I used to use that until I realized enough APA sunk in that I didn't need it anymore :)

I use PERRLA (which was recommended by one of my professors- nice and cheap too), and I've also used grammarly through the school a few times. I'm one of those OCD people about papers- even though PERRLA does the work, I still double check it, since things can change from one version to another of the APA book. The version I use allows a choice for either 5th edition or 6th edition, depending on which edition the class is using. Just be sure to check the student handbook- there are schools out there that do not allow the use of these programs, and consider them academic dishonesty.

Son of citation is free - and check the school library database - sometimes it will list the appropriate citation for whatever article or paper you are reviewing.

I used PERRLA throughout my BSN program, and now for my MSN program as well. The great thing about PERRLA is that it updates its software when the APA changes editions. Love it! Inexpensive and worth the investment in my opinion. I've learned a lot about APA just using the PERRLA program and templates.
