Hi all,
I'm hoping to get into school nursing within the next two years, and in scrolling through indeed and other job boards it looks like school nurses are paid horribly in NY. Not badly, but downright horribly. I saw a job in Oceanside paying $38,000. That's living in your car and eating cat food money in LI!
I know school nursing isn't the highest paying specialty, but is there anywhere in NY that pays closer to what a nurse deserves to be paid?
Thanks everyone.
I wish I could move to Cali or Texas, but I'm currently living away from NY and have to get back home. It's where my family is, and I'm one of those NY snobs who needs good pizza and bagels, plus I miss the energy of NY. :)
Good Pizza, from NY to Ct, I have to home to get decent pie or abeez, as it is called in southern CT

My guess is a big part is because of job requirements. In both NJ and MA I believe you need to have a Bachelor's Degree + special education and certification for School Nursing. In NY none of this is required you just need to be licensed.
