I've applied to 5 area schools (Sac State, Sac City, Sutter, ARC, and Sierra) I'm waiting and I can't help but to be anxious. I thought it'd be nice to know who has heard and when. Thank you!

Has anyone heard anything else? Thinking good thoughts for you and hoping you get accepted. :heartbeat
I got the dreaded rejection letters from ARC and Sac City last week some time. I still haven't heard anything from Sierra yet. I am in at College of the Redwoods for Fall of 2009 though.
Keep your heads up everyone. I've been working at this for a long time now, and I'm not getting any younger . We'll get there, and we'll be better people for it!
They only accepted 50 for Spring, 3 are returning from the previous semester. Our class accepted 63 total, 5 were returning. Now at the end of the semester we are down to 51.
It is unfortunate but I think that it is an average of 20% drop the 1st semester and another 20% drop the 2nd.
Most of those that have dropped have had problems with family or their health. Some did really find out that nursing was really not for them. It is really sad to see someone drop after they waited 2-3 years to get in and they drop. What is even more frustrating is that there are others out there like you that are ready and waiting and now that spot is empty.
My advice is while you are waiting, volunteer, take additional classes and keep yourself immersed in the subject so that you really know and you are even more prepared when it does happen. It really does, just keep applying because you cant win the lotto if you don't play. It took me 2 years but I spent the time taking the extra classes like pharmacology and dosage calculations, medical terminology and I tutored A&P students for 4 semesters. It was well worth it because I was much more prepared for NS than many others.
I got in my first try. It happens.
The ARC rejection letter says that 1/3 of applicants have applied 3 or more times (so 2/3 get in within two application periods. I'm not quite clear how the numbers work out there, with 900 applicants for 50ish spots, but that's what they claim). Waitlists in the area seem to be about two years.
Is that just in one semester? Why such a high attrition rate? Any thoughts?
Geeze...can't believe ARC lost 9 already!! The should start interviewing! I am currently finishing my first semester at Sierra and we have not lost anyone. I guess it's rare for them to loose anyone through the entire course of the program. I too think it's sad since there are so many excellent students trying, waiting, hoping, to get in. It's frustrating. I tried to see if my school has sent out the acceptance letters yet, but all they told me was "it's in the works...they'll know by the end of the semester."
Keep checking e-mails...that's how I found out last spring. I wish you all the best...let me know what you hear...it should be any day.
How long have you guys been applying for NS? I can't apply yet but was wondering what the average wait time is..not for getting your letters but from the time you sent your first application to the time when you actually got accepted? Thanks.
It took me five times of applying to get into NS. I applied for all schools in the Sac area and I put my name on the waitlist for Yuba College. I was on the waitlist for about 16 months for Yuba when I got my letter in Sept for spring semester. I took the HESI (their entrance exam) passed, then I found out I got into ARC, which is 10min from my house. Yuba would have been an hour commute each way. Now I am studying to take the TEAS:bugeyes: Talk about jumping through hoops. Personally I think that everyone has their time when they are supposed to get in. I am someone who is extremely competative and loves a challenge. No matter how heartbreaking it was to get all of those rejection letters I know it was for the best because I never would have been as dedicated as I am now if I had gotten in on my first try. Personally I think that God or karma whatever had a plan. Never have I been so focused.
Enough of the rant, but I just had a friend apply and she got into Sierra on her first try:yeah: So I dont think there really is an average.....It just happens when it is suppose to happen.
