I've applied to 5 area schools (Sac State, Sac City, Sutter, ARC, and Sierra) I'm waiting and I can't help but to be anxious. I thought it'd be nice to know who has heard and when. Thank you!

Yeah....30 out of 400 in addition to second and third time applicants getting half of the 30 pool (that's how the counselor described it to me, anyway).
Unfortunately, as far as the accelerated program from Sutter, it is the last selection process they will be doing. They have been on a grant and it it up in 2010, so, this semesters' selection will be the last of the students to go through the program.
I'm still waiting for ARC, SCC, and Sutter to come in the mail......I pray one of them will be acceptance.....:uhoh21:
Hey CPP,
I got into sierra this time and it was my first try for that program. i took all of my classes at ARC except for micro over the summer at FLC. But just so you know this is my 4th semester applying and i finally spanned out and applied to sierra and sutter extended for the first time this fall. I don't know how they choose (sierra) but i do hear from people it isn't all just lottery based.
To clarify on the Sutter program - Fall 2009 is the last semester that is guaranteed. The grant may be renewed, and may not, but, as of last week, no final decision has been made.
If it did get renewed, a new class would probably be starting in Fall 2010 or Spring 2011, as they only have one 1st/2nd semester and one 3rd/4th semester class going at a time.
(My guess would be that, with the economy and job market in Sacramento as they are, renewing the program at this time isn't a top priority, but you never know!)
Congrats Vix!
I know its completely unreasonable with so many applicants, but I wish they would say what was lacking for the students, that way I could either fix it, or plan for a different career. I honestly thought Id have a better chance at a program that had a merit based acceptance process, but I must be missing something....besided patience that is...
I had initially planned on going to PA school, maybe Ill look at it again. IN the mean time, Im just thankful I have a job right now.
Those of us who got into the Sutter program spend quite a bit of time trying to figure out what in the world got us accepted. There is no consistent thread. We're all good students, but not necessarily the candidates with the absolute best grades (Personally, I got a B in anatomy, and have a past history with less than stellar grades). Not everyone got exceptional TEAS scores. Many of us have some sort of healthcare experience, but not everyone, and relatively few have paid healthcare experience. Few, if any, were Sutter employees or volunteers. Many are second (or more)-career students, but some are straight out of high school (except for the prerequisites, of course).
My personal guess is that they're going for a balanced class, not just the super-achievers or people currently working in healthcare. But that's totally just a guess. In any case, I suspect it's less about deficiencies in the people who didn't get accepted as just not having enough spots available for everyone who has the potential to do well.
CPP - I know what you mean i have read many posts about people getting the denial letter from sierra and some got rejected even though they had a good GPA and such! Every time I read sierra's FAQ's the question on the bottom of the page does irk me because CSUS, ARC, SCC, and others will tell you why you didn't qualify.
jess - That description ssounds like me. I did take my pre-reqs with Justin Moore who did his M/W A&P at sutter center for professionals. I wouldn't mind going to sutter but it is hard to compare these local schools except for ARC and SCC. I don't like some of the SCC teachers, I was an Alt for last fall and at the orientation they just seemed rude. Oh then I find out I should have been adm to the spring class for their nursing program since i was an alt for fall, but i didn't electronically send my TEAS scores to them, Doh! I guess it all happened for a reason.. I really do believe so. I almost got into a program three times but never made it just enough.
1DAY - I am thinking the end of May because they are super slow and have a really late application deadline (april 13th i believe or somewhere around there?) and so they will take 6 weeks. If we're being optimistic then maybe mid may but i am pretty sure the last two years it has been end of may... then again i always got denial letters! lol

I just got my "you met the criteria, but where not selected" letter from Sierra. It was my first time applying there (2nd for ARC and SCC). AT least I won't have to do the whole app again (well, hopefully I'll get in this semester and won't have to do any more aps period! lol
