Anyone in the Sacramento area get an answer yet?

Published

I've applied to 5 area schools (Sac State, Sac City, Sutter, ARC, and Sierra) I'm waiting and I can't help but to be anxious. I thought it'd be nice to know who has heard and when. Thank you!

Hi! I was wondering about your comment about it being a different culture up there; can you elaborate?

I'll be moving up there in the next 6 months to attend COR's ADN program (finally!). I've been living in Northern Ca for about 11 years now, and I love it (Grass Valley to be exact). I have briefly visited the Eureka area, but other than that, I don't know much about it. Any help/tips you can give me will be greatly appreciated! :D

Well congrats! Humboldt it a totally different culture up here. Hopefully you will make your way up here after your ASN soon!

Sorry - I accidentally posted on the wrong thread!

Is anyone applying to CSUS this spring?

I'm an hour north of Sac... No official letter yet, but I got a verbal 'nod' from the department head.

Got the first denial letter of the season today, from Sierra, not hugely disappointed because they are not my first choice, but at this point Id take just about anywhere.....

Sierra is a very hard school to get into. Where else did you apply?

Why is Sierra any harder to get into than the other lottery systems??

I applied to the regular 4...Both at Sac City, ARC, and Sierra. This is my 3rd round for all except of the accelerated program...which I didnt get into either...I dont know what else I can offer them. I got great grades, pretty solid TEAS, experience in Healthcare....when I went to the counselor, she even said I should get in right away....Could it be the speeding tickets I got in High School?(just kidding that was a loooong time ago)

I think Im going to have to find something else.

did you take your prereq's at sierra? it seems most of the people that i know that have gotten into sierra did so on their first time. they all took their prereq's there. i know they have recently changed their admission criteria. also, i don't think it's a "lottery system" like arc is a lottery system. i had to apply five times to each school in sac before i got into arc. i am finishing up my first semester. i also don't think it is the counselor's place to say you will get in right away....it's highly competitive and you just have to keep applying. i know yuba has a waitlist. that is always an option. you have to keep trying. you should be hearing from arc/sac city probably in the middle of may...at least that's when i heard back from them when i was applying. keep your head up. believe me i know what you are going thru. the frustration is horrible. you will get in:)

Thx, I know there are many people in the same boat....Im just frustrated because If I knew what else I could do to get into the accelerated program I would have done it....

5 times.. sheesh, I admire your patience, I guess it paid off.

Trust me if you hang in there, it will be that much better...

I go to sierra (not the nursing program), just taking micro there and I heard from other students that Sierra uses a lottery, but also some point system.

If you don't get a certain amount points, then you don't even get put into the lottery.
