  1. I took the NCLEX 6/12 and am hopeful that I passed, having gotten the 'good pop-up' and my state doesn't do quick results. I did not do a review. In retrospect, I don't think it would have helped. The SATA questions suck. After you take the test, you will not feel good about it! I haven't talked to anyone who did. I think it is important to get in there and TAKE it as soon as you can after graduation! In the meantime, just keep plugging away at LOTS of questions. At least it makes you feel like you're preparing, although the test is horrible and hard to 'prepare' for. Good luck and just take time during the test to close your eyes and take deep breaths...
  2. most schools will have a BP cuff to use. IMO, it's a waste of money to buy one.
  3. Great Job! You are now an RN!!!!
  4. Professor last name...all 6 of them!
  5. Thanks! Congrats to you too! I took the TEAS a year and a half ago when I applied for Sutter. It was pretty easy, but the science threw me for a loop. I don't know anything about tectonic plates and earth science stuff. I will be studying the TEAS workbook for the next 2 weeks! :)Lisa
  6. just wanted to see if any of these people are still around. How has Sierra been? Starting in the Fall '10 and just wanted to get some "reviews" if you could spare some time. Thanks!
  7. I am starting ns in the fall (after 2 years of rejection:yeah:) and my school just posted info for orientation, uniforms (Im so excited! ), and then there were ATI test fees of 454.00 (approx.) saying the school uses ATI for assessment, practice tests, and modules. Does this fee cover some of our materials that we would normally buy? Will we be taking our tests on a computer through ATI every time? Just curious as I have only used ATI for the TEAS test. Thanks in advance!! ...a very excited "pre-nursing" student!
  8. Well, after 2 years of applying to 4 different schools each semester, I got my letter of congratulations a little over a week ago. I am so excited! I have only attended LosRios, so Sierra will be a new school for me. It seemed like such a long hard wait, Ilm still in a bit of shock! LOL So, you said Sierra did away with spinrg selections altogether? I knew that they did last spring, but I didn"t know it was a permanent change. Good luck to you! Lisa
  9. Yeah....30 out of 400 in addition to second and third time applicants getting half of the 30 pool (that's how the counselor described it to me, anyway). Unfortunately, as far as the accelerated program from Sutter, it is the last selection process they will be doing. They have been on a grant and it it up in 2010, so, this semesters' selection will be the last of the students to go through the program. I'm still waiting for ARC, SCC, and Sutter to come in the mail......I pray one of them will be acceptance.....:uhoh21:
  10. I just got my "you met the criteria, but where not selected" letter from Sierra. It was my first time applying there (2nd for ARC and SCC). AT least I won't have to do the whole app again (well, hopefully I'll get in this semester and won't have to do any more aps period! lol :)Lisa
  11. You GO GIRL!!!! You can do it!!!! Great job on the TEAS!!! Wow!!! I agree, the book really worked for the math...tha science was my challenge....and I took Chem a couple years ago. I was out of school for 15 years, and boy did I feel strange at first, but you get used to it. GL to you!!!! :)Lisa
  12. I had a friend who had the workbook, so I did look at. It would be helpful if you need a math refresher. Math has always been easy for me (I loved the stoichiometry problems - lol!). The tricky thing about the math for a lot of people, is the amount of time the calculations take doing them by hand. For example, they might give you a scenario of balancing a checkbook. So, for one question, you might have addition, multiplication and subtraction...all by hand. Not hard stuff, but if you're not used to it, it can take time. Make sure you re-familiarize yourself with metircs (like how many inches to a meter, ounce to liter/gram, Celsius to Farenheit). Fractions - just refresh on recipricol (sp?) when dividing fractions and of course common denominators in adding/subtracting fraction - oh, and converting to decimals/percentages - and comparing ratios. Life sciences was not difficult...my score was 100% for life sciences (they break down your areas on your results). - I am 37, so that puts me at 20+ years since any life science class! lol - but that was not the kicker for me. The other sections were very difficult for me....unfortunately, I can't even remember a sample to give you....I think I just tried to push it out of my mind when I found out I passed! lol! I can't really recommend against getting the study workbook, because...you know, it may be of value to you for studying. I did not find that it prepared me for the science portion. If you're concerned about math, maybe you want to get it, but if you just refreshed your knowledge on the above math tips, that would do it. For science, I googled and got this really cool interactive mini-science thing (for kids, but still!) - it covered basic chem and science principles. I'm not sure on how to get the resfresher for the sciences - I may start NS in the fall (I HOPE!), and I feel like I neet it for that! But, I know things will come back to me too.....or I'll go home and study it til I know it. Do you just have to have an overall passing score - pass with 67 in all areas, or have a competitive passing grade to get into a program? All programs are so different, some Nursing programs take only high pass grades on the TEAS. The 4 I applied to only require you to pass with a 67% in all 4 areas. Having said all this (and I am not a long poster type person!) - - -You'll be fine! Good luck! When do you take it?? :wink2:Lisa
  13. Well, I guess everyone is different... The math portion (99%) was super easy to me - but only had a few minutes to spare. Just refresh your memory on fractions and percentages. Oh, another thing to refresh on would be metric conversions. Also, calculators are NOT allowed, so everything is longhand. Reading (98%) was very easy as well - they had a lot of "read the following paragraph and answer the questions". Questions would include "what is the main idea of this story". Many are just really making sure you have good comprehension. English (88%) was a little more challenging. They have ALOT of "replace part of the sentence with the correct phrase". This may be to replace a misspelled word, capitalization, grammar usage, sentence structure, words in correct context, or punctuation. Science (76%) was really hard to me! I hate to say that - it should have been what I performed best in! I got A's in Chem - both A & P classes and a B in Micro....ARGH!!!! For the science portion, the general science, chem science, and physical science really killed me. Some of the things I had never heard of....others, it's just been a few years. The other sections for science are 1) scientific reasoning 2) life science and 3) body science - I didn't have a problem with these. I wasn't worried about the test AT ALL until I took it the first time and passed with flying colors on all sections, except for the science - man, that killed me! I missed to pass line by ONE question for the science section! So, I took it again....and passed. I really feel like I need a refresher in the science area, though! GL to you! Lisa btw, I don't feel like the study guides helped AT ALL with the area I needed help in.
  14. I would drive an hour or so each way. Is there a possibilty for you to move? Although I would drive 1+ hr each way - it certainly isn't ideal. GL to you!
  15. waiting here, too. I have 4 nursing apps out: I should know in the next 6 weeks for 2. the other 2 I won't know until ~June 15th. The wait really kills me, it is my second semester of applying... GL to everyone...
