Anyone in the Sacramento area get an answer yet?

Published

I've applied to 5 area schools (Sac State, Sac City, Sutter, ARC, and Sierra) I'm waiting and I can't help but to be anxious. I thought it'd be nice to know who has heard and when. Thank you!

I am going crazy here and need some advice from anyone who is famiiar with Sierra College!! This was my second time applying to SCC, ARC and Sierra College. I was not accepted into any of them, but was told I was qualified into ARC and SCC, but not Sierra. Funny thing is, is that I applied to Sierra last semester and they told me I was qualified and now they didn't. I haven't changed anything on my application.

All my pre-reqs are finished with A's and B's and I have no repeats in my sciences, (which is important).

They actually stated in my letter that my grades didn't qualify. Wow, I have all A's and B's here. Do you have to have staight A's now? If so, I'm screwed and will just have to keep my fingers crossed for ARC and SCC. I'm going crazy here-this is my career!

Any advice would be appreciated! Could they have made a mistake? I know they plug everything into a system and base it all on an 84% which I am above.

Good luck to you all and congrats on anyone who got in!

Did you pass the TEAS? They added that requirement for this semester (a difference from last semester).

Well I got my letter today from Sierra. They said I was not considered because I had not taken the TEAS. I took the freakin test AT Sierra and included a copy. I scored in the 98th percentile. I am sooooooooo mad.

I still don't have my letter from sierra? Any day now! Is anyone in the same boat?

So far, the answer is no from Sutter Extended Campus, Sac City, ARC and Sierra. The answer is the same at all but Sutter: I'm qualified but was not chosen in the random draw.

No word yet from Modesto JC. I'm on the waiting list at Solano and Yuba.

I'll reapply everywhere and will also be applying at CSUS and CSUS 2nd bachelors in the spring.

I've got straight A's in pre-reqs and high scores on the TEAS and GRE, so grades/test scores are not a problem.

Keep a good thought for me!

Mossback,

Did you already apply to Sac State for the coming semester, or are you planning to apply for the fall semester? Teri Tallman just sent a mass e-mail saying that she'll have the sp 09 answers sent out on Dec 3rd.

Has anyone taken chemistry at ARC??

Did you take 306 or 309? Just trying to decide which one is easier. I have a strong chem background as I have already taken Chem 1A & 1B (Chem 400 and 401).

Sac State requires an organic/bio chem.

They said I either take 306 or 309.

Or take an o-chem class and a bio chem class.....THIS SUCKS!

I don't blame you! I'd have been beyond angry.

My Sierra application wasn't considered either. I had some problems with the reading assessment test which I was aware of at the time I applied, so I figured that might happen. Bad planning on my part, but I figured it was better to apply anyways and take my chances.

Regrettably enough, the folks at Sierra have a reputation for being very picky about applications. Several people I know have been taken out of consideration for seemingly minor issues with their apps.

I'm applying for fall '09. I'm currently taking my last two pre-reqs for CSUS (organic chem and stats).

Please....any of you guys who have excellent grades etc. and received letters like this, contact the Dean of math and sciences at Sierra college. Two of my friends received the same letters and have close to flawless apps (grades, TEAS scores, etc.) and were told they did not qualify with an 84%! Problem is...they were both graded higher through the counsoler's office. I know one of the girls whent straight to dean Kenner's office and spoke with her...then talked to the math/science dean...and yes, they had made a mistake! So someone screwed up this semester and you guy's did not work this hard to fall into someone's mistake! Sierra did tighten up their requirments this semester though...but not that much!

I am sooooo fourtunate to have been selected last semester because I'm pretty sure I would not have gotten in as of now!

Anyhow...please, please go and make noise about this (only if you are sure about meeting the criteria...sounds like you do). Good luck and don't give up!
