Anyone going to Modesto Junior College?

Published

I'm just curious! I'm just starting (at the ripe 'ol age of 35, LOL!) looking into a career in nursing. I've worked in hospitals and clinics doing medical transcription for years and years, and way back when used to be a pre-physical therapy major (I've taken chemistry, anatomy, biology...don't know if they would count, as it's been several years). I would be attending MJC for pre-reqs and (fiingers crossed) the nursing program eventually and I would really love to have a student's view, how difficult it is to get into the program, any general advice, etc.

I know, I thought so too!! But some of those people may have already gotten accepted to other schools and will give up their spot if they are picked.:D

Oh dear lordy GOD please let that be the case!!!!! I obviously am not having very much luck on this whole lottery system thing !!! I need all the help I can get!!!! :D:D:D

I'm not having the best of luck either with the whole lottery thing.....good luck to the both of us!!!!!:D

I applied for the lvn-RN upgrade at mjc. It seems like it is taking forever for the 23rd to get here!!!!! Has anyone heard if anyone dropped or failed last semester so there will be room for LVN upgrades? I had applied for the RN program 4 times and couldnt get in. SO i decised to apply for the LVN program at Delta and got in furst try. Now I just want to finish my RN asap cause LVN positions do not pay half as well :crying2:. Hope you all get in soon. I know how frustrating it is to apply over and over again.

Mammato3 I'm keeping my fingers toes and everything else crossed for the both of us!!! Did you see the update on the web site? They hope the letters will be out by the 23rd! HOPE????? They are going to be the death of me!!!! Good luck to you mandajane4!!!!

Thanks!! I have my fingers crossed for the both of us too:) I did see the website and I also spoke to someone at allied health and she said they are trying really hard to make the 23rd deadline. I guess with 719 apps, it can take a while. She said that number is up 200 from last app period:cool:

UUgghh!!! MJC's website says there is a delay and the letters will not go out until the 28th:crying2:

Had to jump in on the post, I too am one of the many applicants with my life on hold waiting to find out about the MJC program... I am so anxious about finding out and now it is pushed back to the 28th!!! The wait is tormenting me! Lol. I know they have a lot to do but I dot understand, if they know that 715 are qualified isn't it just a cp that does the lottery selection? Sounds like there is more to it than that... oh well... I already enrolled in a full time schedule since my registration date was in JUNE... I know my chances are low on getting in but there is always hope... good luck to everybody... also... does anyone know anyone who has made it into MJC within the first two times applying?

cdg209,

I have a friend that applied the same time as me when it was our first time and she got in and is going into her last semester......so you never know!!;)

That is encouraging thanks!

Oh yeah, by the way I was just curious what happens if you dont get in, I assume you get a letter if you do get in but do they send you a "thanks but no thanks" type letter if you dont get in? DO you find out at the same time as those that are accepted? Just curious...

THE 28TH!!!!??!!?? They make me so nutso!!!!!!!!!! I planned my summer vacation around the "date" they gave us so I would be home to get the "were sorry you suck" letter! They do this all the time!!!:eek::eek:
