I'm currently in the program, have been since July of this year and you can see in my signature all the exams i've taken/grades and what i'm about to take...do you have specific questions? I'd suggest going to Home - excelsior.edu and signing up for the FREE MyEC account, that way you can access their website and take a look around...basically you apply to the school $75 app fee, send in your previous college transcripts and your nursing license etc and they will give you and "unofficial" evaluation about what degree requirements you still need to finish (i had a bunch but it's doable depending on YOUR own initiative and drive!) You can then take TWO exams Transition to RN roll AND Health & Safety w/out having to pay their enrollment fee ($900 or so i think, i paid less cause i'm a military spouse and got a discount- then enrollment fee sort of starts your "clock" to get things done, as well as they have a 6mo payment plan-i think i paid $150 per month for mine- so you dont have to come up with the whole amount at once...every year on your yr anniversary there is a student services fee that has to be paid (300 or 400 around there) but i had planned to be done before a year anyway so i dont plan on paying that- that can go on a payment plan as well as any of the exam fees (around $250 each) can be made in payments too.
Now the other thing (the two exams you can take before you enroll) download their Free content guide from the excelsior school page, and it's like a syllabus with all the recommended textbooks and what chapters to read/topics to know etc...i would take mine, break down the sections and assign myself certain dates to have each section done by...this kept me on tract and moving forward, it'd also purchase for $65 a practice exam from EC because it gives you and idea of how the questions are worded and what the exam looks like (you get two different exams for the $65- well worth it!) i would take those to gauge if i had a grasp on the material and then take my exam at a local pearson vue....
i know this is all jumbled and i hope youg et the idea...maybe someone with more "blogging/writing" power and make this a little more informative and make a little more sense...any questions just ask , we all tend to help each other on here!

I am also in the program, I enrolled couple months ago... I have 4 exams left (Can't wait). As a new mom, the program really works for me, I study in my own time... don't have the pressure as if I was in a classroom traditional program. I have made some great "friends" here who are very supportive and motivate me. Welcome@

Do you need to have LPN work experience to sign up for this program?
Thanks!

Hello! I have been in the program a little longer but have goals of finishing before Spring. EC RN program is designed for LPNs that have had some work experience. Some have had as little as less than a year (I believe I read that? but I could be wrong) to some like me who have had 19 years or more. As Tasha mentioned, it is good to have goals, as I believe this program requires alot of self discipline and motivation. I have 4 exams left until FCCA/CPNE and I can hardly wait :) Good luck!

Tasha, when are you taking LS3? I am studying for that one now.
WestPalmLPN, you must be knocking those exams down! WTG~ it is so encouraging to hear other success stories. I have been in the EC program since Jan 2010 and I have 3 exams, FCCA,and CPNE left. LS3 is what I am currently studying, then on to LS2 and Chronicity! I can't wait to be done. Very nervous about LS3, I hear it is a tough one!

I am also in the program, going to enroll officially in January. I have been a LPN for two years. I took my first exam in November and my 2nd in December and I am hoping to have all the theory portion completed by August of 2011. I am also a working mom of a 1 year old so this program has been a God send for me, I can study and test on my own time and continue to work! I have met some friends here too that help keep me motivated!! I am studying for the big A&P exam to take mid January now. :-)
I wont start on LS3 until after Christmas...taking LS2 on the 22nd or 23rd i can't remember which day...lol
