New LPN nurse looking to start Excelsior. Anyone in the program? if so what is it like and would you recommend??only respond if your in the program please. Looking for advise from those who can relate to it. Thank you
Hint for A&P go to Audible.com - audio that speaks to you wherever you are and look up the textbook, you can purchase an audio lecture type thing to download into your mp3 player and it helped me bunches! As i cleaned my house i'd listen to the lectures over and over again...lol
I enrolled into Excelsior .I'm on Chronicity now then 4 exams following. Tasha is right. I have an outline to keep me on track. Once I "check it" then I move on. I take a test every 5 weeks. This is what worked for me. I don't have time for a classroom. I work at my own pace. This site on here helps me realize I'm not alone...That really helps!!! This was the best decision I made:)
i passed ls3 yesterday and will start ls2 soon. i only have it and chronicty now. i hope to have my exams done by march 1 and the fcca! and i too liked audible, i used it for health safety. good luck and lets keep this motivation train moving along. lynn is having a cpne workshop in indiana i think in june(fyi).

passed:
microbiology, health safety,transitions,information literacy,reproduction, ls1,ls3 and on to ls2
I am presently doing the Excelsior program and started in 2009. I basically needed all general eds as well as nursing course. I started in July, and in July 2010 I had 30 credits. I am still studying and testing, and feel very positive about the program thus far. You have to be diligent and committed to studying and set a specific time every day to study. I was afraid of running out of steam and thus far NOT... still plugging away! Remember there's always a way to get around a hard course. I couldn't face A and P (to test out) so I found an online course from Rio Salado.edu and took it that way.. I joined the freeexcelsiorhelp group and they are very instrumental in giving out different ways and places to take course and have them transferred to excelsior (maybe because it cheaper to take it elsewhere). I am like I said happy with my studies and progress. Good Luck!!
I am thinking of signing up for the ADN program offered by Excelsior College. I had my visit with a representative today. After going online and looking at the reviews for the CPNE... Does anyone recommend this program? It seems like no one passes on their first try, or hardly on their second try. This is the only part of the program that scares me.

You mentioned you "had your visit with a rep" I hope you aren't talking about the college network. If you are, run away before you sign anything ..RUN! You can get everything you need directly through Excelsior without using a 3rd party that will only cost you a lot of money. This forum and many others are filled with nightmare stories of people dealing with college network and rue. You are paying a boat load of money for their study guides, that's it. You get your degree from Excelsior so why have a middle man? If I "assumed" I apolgize but the only time I have had a "visit" was a couple years ago when a college network rep came to my house. I did the research on my own and never signed on the dotted line.

He/she is right! It sounds like you are talking about The College Network, because I did the same thing! Don't do it!
