Well, I finally was able to get everything in order to apply to nursing school. I've been going part time doing a class or two at a time for so long that it seemed this time would never get here! lol In some ways, it's been good that it's taken longer due to family concerns, money, health problems my son has been having, etc. I took the NET this past Friday and was sick as a dog (high fever, massive headache) when I did so I hope I did well enough. It was the last time the NET was being given before the deadline, so I had to go. My GPA is good, so I'm hoping even if I didn't do as well as I would normally that it will balance with my NET score.
The deadline for Winter 2008 (January 2008 start) is September 1. The nursing department says we'll know whether we're accepted or not by mid-October. I'm nervous! I know this is what I want to do and I've been working toward it since 2005, right after my son was released from the NICU. If I'm not accepted, then I know I'll apply again, but it will still be very disappointing.
Anyone else waiting for "the" letter? Care to wait with me? :)

I am waiting too...actually, yesterday I felt like I got all my ducks in a row...finally!
I took the NLN already and got an 85% (I'm in the running, but cutting it close), so I went yesterday and signed up for the LAST test they will give before the September 5 cutoff...so I'll be taking that again on August 28 just to try to improve...even if just a little.
I also filled out my application...I think I've had a dream numerous times that I forgot to do that, so now I KNOW I filled it out so I can stop having those dreams!!
Now, pretty much, I just wait!! When I turned in my application, I was told we would receive ours in November...hopefully we'll get it before we have to sign up for our classes (which is usually the 2nd week of November). I have to get the night classes, so I want to make sure I am signing up right away!
So, I'll be waiting right along with you!!! Good luck to you!!! And just as an FYI, I've already been turned down once. All you can do is pick up the pieces and try again!
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi all,
I'm still waiting for "the" letter, too. The deadline for applications and paperwork is September 15 and "the" letter will come at the beginning of October. I know the feeling and the anxiety. It's all I think about and I have about 2 months to go....
I took the TEAS Test in July and got 92nd Percentile(only need 40th Percentile to be considered), I have a 3.875, had two great letters of reference and wrote a good essay. All my transcripts are in and it's just so nerve wracking this wait.
Sincerely,
B
I'm sure you'll get in with great grades, great test scores, and great letters of recommendation, too! I understand being nervous though. It's definitely hard to think about anything else when you're waiting for the letter. lol

How exciting!!! When will you find out?
I don't apply for school until Sept. 1st through Dec. and THE "LETTER" won't be here until April. The agony. Our program starts in summer.
This was in my email box today around 12:30....
We have received all items needed to review your application for our January 2008 class. We do not make our final decisions until after the paperwork deadline of September 15, 2007. You will be notified of our decision via mail by the end of September.
Isn't it exciting?? I can hardly do anything else but think of getting that letter......

:balloons:Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome. Hopefully we will hear from you in a month and a half about all the excitement of being accepted into the program! :balloons:
What a long month and a half it's going to be. I keep going through my mind how it's going to be to get the "good" letter and how it would be to get the "bad" letter. Unofficially, I've been told that there is no reason why I would not be accepted based on my academic record(3.875 GPA) and getting in the 92nd percentile on the TEAS, but still I've been rejected by my local community college last year because my ACT score was not on my high school transcript...back then I had a 4.0 and had the right amount of credit hours to get into the program. This school that I applied to has only 75 spaces in their class and I am not greedy, I just want one. This is what I've wanted to do since I was 16 years old and I've just had a few setbacks in that 15 year period since then, but the one thing that I can say to anyone out there who is frustrated and also want to live this nursing dream is never ever give up. Rejection letters, I've had a few, but I've found in my almost 31 years of life, that when one door closes, another one opens. I met the recruiter for the school I just applied to, shortly after I got rejected from the CC.
Take care y'all,

Alright, so I verified that they have all of my stuff in my file to be considered, but when I filled out my application, they said I would hear something probably in November...now our cutoff is September 5 and yours is September 15, but your school can have everything done in less than a month and mine will take like 2 months?? What's up with that??? Doesn't seem right!!! (Just messin' with ya...I just don't want to wait that long to find out!)
