Anyone else waiting for "the" letter?

Published

Well, I finally was able to get everything in order to apply to nursing school. I've been going part time doing a class or two at a time for so long that it seemed this time would never get here! lol In some ways, it's been good that it's taken longer due to family concerns, money, health problems my son has been having, etc. I took the NET this past Friday and was sick as a dog (high fever, massive headache) when I did so I hope I did well enough. It was the last time the NET was being given before the deadline, so I had to go. My GPA is good, so I'm hoping even if I didn't do as well as I would normally that it will balance with my NET score.

The deadline for Winter 2008 (January 2008 start) is September 1. The nursing department says we'll know whether we're accepted or not by mid-October. I'm nervous! I know this is what I want to do and I've been working toward it since 2005, right after my son was released from the NICU. If I'm not accepted, then I know I'll apply again, but it will still be very disappointing.

Anyone else waiting for "the" letter? Care to wait with me? :)

I was told i would get a letter either the 1st or 2nd week in august.STILL WAITING.Doesn't seem like i got in but i'll just wait out the remainder of the week and see.Feeling very discouraged right now.Was thinking of calling the nursing department but am afraid to hear the letters were sent out since last week which would confirm my fears. This a my third application.A little encouragement please.THANKS.

I would call just to see...I never got my letter this past spring...granted it was not an acceptance letter, but my school sends out letters no matter what - is that what your school does? It can't hurt to call. I'd just hate to hear that you got accepted, but you weren't able to respond in time because you never got the letter.

At my school they only send out acceptance letters. So if you don't get one by a certain time then you know your not in.I was accepted last year then they sent me a letter stating they had cancelled the course. Can't understand why i have to go through all this again they could have just transferred me to this fall class.Well my interviewers were not very friendly and i left feeling i didn't get in and still do just hoping for a bit of luck like someone declining their seat or something. What makes it worse is a friend of mine just told me about 30 mins ago that her daughter & niece were both accepted since july 26 for a different course but what worries me is we all had interviews on the same date.

OK so i just called the school and yes they have already been sent out so i guess that means i'm officially not in.Feel like i'm going to pass out.Don't know where to go from here.Really was hoping to get in this year as the last of my kids will be starting school in september and i'll have plenty of free time.If i get a job now i'll be working for for a very small salary.I don't have to work but i am ready for a change.Have been a stay at home mom for 5yrs.Feels like just giving up.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Well, I don't think that's right that they only send the acceptance letters. Like I said, I never got my letter last spring, so what if that were to happen with an acceptance letter? I just don't trust that at all!!!

I hope you are wrong and that you just have not gotten the letter yet...good luck. If not, keep trying. I am taking a class this Fall that I don't even need because I didn't get in for the fall semester. Hang in there...

now our cutoff is September 5 and yours is September 15, but your school can have everything done in less than a month and mine will take like 2 months?? What's up with that??? Doesn't seem right!!! :uhoh3: (Just messin' with ya...I just don't want to wait that long to find out!)

I am applying to a hospital school in my local area. The "official" deadline(to submit an application) is tomorrow (8/15). However, the deadline to get all paperwork(transcripts, letters of recommendation, TEAS test results, etc) is September 15. The committee does not meet until after September 15 when they will make their final decisions.

I will keep everyone posted!!

tigress, you should have asked them if you had been accepted, maybe the letter was lost or is late, you never know. I would have asked to be sure.

Anyways, I'm waiting on my letter. They said it should be here by Aug 31 but "probably" before that. I can't wait any longer! I hope I get in, but if I don't, my plan B is to do an EMT program.

Hi y'all,

I just wanted to let everyone know that today I found out that I am going to be accepted into the nursing program at my school starting January 2008. I can't believe how much of a relief this is. I start school at the local community college that has been my home for 3 years now tomorrow. I don't think that it has sank in yet, that I'm going to be a nursing student in January( a short 4 months from now). I've got so much to do and just wanted to share my good news with everyone on this forum.

Sincerely,

I am too waiting on the letter!!! I have turned in everything I needed to the nursing office and have taken the teas test today!!! Wish I had studied cause i would have killed that test!! But as it stands Im still above the national and program averages and the school said as long as you are above those you will be fine. So now i have to wait until Nov. before i know if I am in or not. So good luck to all and remember Enjoy the journey as much as you do the destination!!!

Thanks.

I will be waiting for the letter next week, our application date is 9/1-10/1 and they say they will notify you 6-8weeks after close of registration, so a long way to go before I am notified, but will be nice to get the application in and leave it in Gods hands at that point. I have been working at this since fall of 04 so I know what you mean you wait so long for this day to drop your application off its hard to believe it will ever come.

What a long month and a half it's going to be. I keep going through my mind how it's going to be to get the "good" letter and how it would be to get the "bad" letter. Unofficially, I've been told that there is no reason why I would not be accepted based on my academic record(3.875 GPA) and getting in the 92nd percentile on the TEAS, but still I've been rejected by my local community college last year because my ACT score was not on my high school transcript...back then I had a 4.0 and had the right amount of credit hours to get into the program. This school that I applied to has only 75 spaces in their class and I am not greedy, I just want one. This is what I've wanted to do since I was 16 years old and I've just had a few setbacks in that 15 year period since then, but the one thing that I can say to anyone out there who is frustrated and also want to live this nursing dream is never ever give up. Rejection letters, I've had a few, but I've found in my almost 31 years of life, that when one door closes, another one opens. I met the recruiter for the school I just applied to, shortly after I got rejected from the CC.

Take care y'all,

B

seriously my only worry about applying is clerical error, our school makes you jump through hoops and they change things I swear everyweek, you never know whats going to happen before I apply every semester they have added or taken away things needed, and I have had so many problems getting documants because of staff turn over. I have a friend who had been approved for her english transcripts from another school, only to get a copy of her review to find out a year later they made a mistake now she is 2 semesters behind on her english. Its crazy. I have the grades they have only 24 spots in the spring, so I hope no one messes up.

Oh man thats terrible I can't even imagine there should be laws against that. You got in? they canceled the course, and then make YOU reapply? that is just crazy, I am very sorry and I hope everything goes ok this time around. I would be looking for a new school what if they cancel midprogram?
