Anyone else waiting for "the" letter?

Published

Well, I finally was able to get everything in order to apply to nursing school. I've been going part time doing a class or two at a time for so long that it seemed this time would never get here! lol In some ways, it's been good that it's taken longer due to family concerns, money, health problems my son has been having, etc. I took the NET this past Friday and was sick as a dog (high fever, massive headache) when I did so I hope I did well enough. It was the last time the NET was being given before the deadline, so I had to go. My GPA is good, so I'm hoping even if I didn't do as well as I would normally that it will balance with my NET score.

The deadline for Winter 2008 (January 2008 start) is September 1. The nursing department says we'll know whether we're accepted or not by mid-October. I'm nervous! I know this is what I want to do and I've been working toward it since 2005, right after my son was released from the NICU. If I'm not accepted, then I know I'll apply again, but it will still be very disappointing.

Anyone else waiting for "the" letter? Care to wait with me? :)

OK so i just called the school and yes they have already been sent out so i guess that means i'm officially not in.Feel like i'm going to pass out.Don't know where to go from here.Really was hoping to get in this year as the last of my kids will be starting school in september and i'll have plenty of free time.If i get a job now i'll be working for for a very small salary.I don't have to work but i am ready for a change.Have been a stay at home mom for 5yrs.Feels like just giving up.

DON"T give up! I have given up before I took a semester off but its not the thing to do trust me! The time goes by regardless if you are in school or not, just keep applying, try different avenues, maybe see if you can get a part time job at a hospital do anything to increase your chances!

Yeah, I'm waiting too. My school's official deadline for Spring '08 RN is 9-1-07. Of course, that's a Saturday and the next official day of school is Wednesday 9-5-07 due to the holiday. We were told the letters would be mailed out no later than 9-30-07 but they never do anything according to their own schedule! I just hope I don't give myself a stroke worrying until they finally send them out.

GOOd LUCK, everyone! I was in your shoes not too long ago. Thankfully, I am in a program that considers my a nursing student while I finish up my science pre reqs. I plan to start the nursing portion in fall of '08. Take care and keep your head up!

I am waiting too! I applied for spring and should find out in November. I applied last year to one school and got rejected (I know I know you should NEVER just apply to one school :trout: What was I thinking?!) But out of 1800 applicants I did make it down to the final 450 who got interviews so looking on the bright side at least I got down to the interview stage! There's only 30 seats for spring so I have no idea what my chances are. But I find after being rejected once already, I'm really not all that worried. What's the worst that could happen? I get rejected again? Then I'll just have to apply again! I'm also getting my applications ready for the next round of fall applications (most are due in January but being early can't be bad!) I've taken all the course I can possibly take, even taken pharmacology and pathophysiology to get those out of the way (even though patho isn't required but I figure it can't hurt!) So I have absolutely no classes this semester and I'm already bored! Congrats to those of you who have already gotten accepted, don't give up to those that got rejected and best of luck to all of us still waiting!

You must be my long lost twin. I too made the mistake of applying to one school last Fall and I'm not doing that again...this time I'm casting a wide net! I'm also running out of classes to take, I finished Pharm last semester and am taking Patho this semester, to get a head start.

Good luck to you..er...us! ;)

Ok...add me to the list!!!

I should know the end of this week or next week. My advisor said to call the school if I haven't gotten a letter by Sept. 10th. My school send a letter out to everybody, rejection or acceptance, so I'll know for sure very soon!

I don't know how much more my fingernails can take :)

Good luck to everybody still waiting...

Sorry to everybody who didn't get in yet...

...and

Congratulations to those who know they are in!

I am only applying to one school they take only 20 students too, Its my only option right now.

I *will* be waiting for the letter. Our app deadline is 9/21 so I'll find out at the end of October. I've already taken the NET, my GPA is great, so unless there are a lot of applicants with LPNs/EMTs/etc I shouldn't have a problem getting in. They get preference over those with no experience. All I need to do is get the advisor to sign my application.

The worst part is.....I applied for the fall semester that just started and GOT IN but I GAVE UP the spot :uhoh21: (It's a long story...was debating between NS and going back to my old career and I decided to give the old career one last chance.....HUGE mistake) :trout:

Anyway, I hope I can get in again! If not I'll be trying again for next fall, but I'd much rather do the spring because those are the evening classes and would be much easier with the kids.

Oh yeah, Tiffany (fmrnicumom)

My DD #2 was a NICU baby too, and that's what finally motivated me to pursue nursing as well! I had always thought about it, but that's what finally gave me the guts to do something about it.

Aren't NICU graduates the best?! :heartbeat

Yes, I am one of those lucky people who is waiting for the "letter"

I am so upset and nervous waiting to find out if I have made in into the nursing clinical. When the letter arrives, I may have to find someone else to open it. lol

wen was the release of grades for the last june board exam?

I turned in my official application yesterday (we fill it out online but for some unknown reason they also want you to print and sign a copy and turn it in in person :uhoh3:) So while turning it in I found out they just got an approval two weeks ago to accept 60 now instead of 30! I'm not sure how many total apply, but it doubles my chances now! Also I asked a question on my score sheet about GPA's and she looked at my test scores and said "yeah but that makes up for it so you should be fine" I'm not going to get excited until I have the official letter in hand, but I'm more hopeful now! Come on November!
