Molloy here!!!
Great, great school and nursing program!
I believe you must have a 3.2 for acceptance, in addition to passing the mandatory math and reading tests.
It can be frustrating when it comes to registering for classes etc. as Molloy has a large nursing student body and you don't always get your first pick of class schedules if you are not in the registration priority. (By that I mean Seniors and Honors register 1st, then Jrs, then Soph. and then Freshmen...) You may not get the time/schedule for a course you prefer but you will not get closed out of the course. As far as I know they will open more classes as needed. Some of my fellow classmates who work full-time days have had problems getting evening classes. It simply requires some flexibility on the students' part. (Typically easier said than done!)
That is my only complaint (if you'd call it that) with Molloy so far. I am a junior (graduate Dec, 08) and have really nothing but great experiences with the program (curriculum, instructors, clinical placements, lab facilities, advisors etc).
Sorry to ramble-on but I am sooooooo excited about going back this Wed. - it's been a long Summer!!!!
If you require further clarification on anything re: Molloy I would be more than happy to help!
Good Luck!!!!

Are the mandatory math and reading test for entrance into the nursing program, the school itself, or both?
Thanks
Nicole
It is definitely mandatory for the nursing program. Perhaps this will help you more:

If I can do anything else, let me know!

Hello there,
Im currently attending LIU. I had a 3.92 when I applied. Personally I wish I would have gone to Pace university or NYU. The professors at LIU do not nurture their students. I have had several teachers that have stated they hated teaching and we have suffered the consequences- we taught ourselves. Its pretty sad that i paid 15 grand last semester and had absolutely horrible professors. Even after complaining to the dean, which had been recieving complaints for years, nothing happened. So steer clear of LIU. I wouldnt want you to go through the same horrible experience as me and my peers.
Goodluck,

MiMi, I am at LIU now. Are you referring to the nursing instructors or LIU professors in general?

I see LIU's nursing program hasn't improved since I got my BSN in 1973. Most of the professors outside of the nursing program are fairly helpful and good. I know, my boyfriend still teaches there. And he is a very understanding and fair professor, at least according to many of his students. If I had the opportunity, I would go to NYU. It is one of the best programs in the city, besides Hunter and P & S.
When I returned for my second Masters, this time in nursing, I went to Russell Sage, in upstate. It is a private woman's college that charges less then $300 per credit hour for graduate level courses. And it's professors are excellent.

I just graduated from LIU and I have no idea what you are talking about. I mean everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I have to disagree. I absolutely loved the professors they were nurturing and offered much guidance. I was not an A student either. It was definitely rough but what Nursing School isnt and from what I hear all of ous have passed the Nclex so far. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LIU SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
