Please shed some light!! What gpa did you have the time you applied and how is the program? What is the school looking for in terms of gpa, test score, etc?
Ofcourse we can agree to disagree. I am sorry that you had a negative experience while you were at the school. My only issue was that it seemed as if you were putting down the school of nursing without having experience as a student in the nursing phase of the program. I do understand though that what you have described as your own personal experiences while trying to get to that point has left a "bad taste" in your mouth. I'm sure that there are people at every school who aren't quite happy - as well as those that are.
I am glad that you found a school that you can be happy with, and I wish you the best.
Congrats on becoming an RN. :)
Thanks!

I attended and graduated from Adelphi university in Garden City. When I was there, they were sort of in the re-vamping stage. I didn't feel like the education I got was worth the $24k I spent per year. But, I graduated and I passed the NCLEX. I loved some of their professors and actually, one of them is my mentor today and a clinical instructor has turned out to be a good friend, as well as mentor.
I think the program lacks organization and there is a lot of disrespect from the students themselves when it comes to respecting the professors and other students during class time. Ie. Talking which is very disruptive.
I'm just not sure if I would recommend it. I personally think you can get just as good, if not better education from a state college for your BSN. But, with the wait lists the way they are, private is always a good option.
Anyhow..
here is the link to their requirements if you're interested in checking the school out.

Good luck in whatever you choose:)
StudentNurseBean what was your GPA ? i am applying for jan 08 i have a 3.5 from nassau community college. How long does it take to hear from them?
I think you'll be fine. Do well on the NET and you should be fine. I know they've changed their prerequisites for the program. At least they were in the process of doing so a year ago. You might want to look at their website at that. I know you need a C in statistics, but it could have changed to a B. I'm not sure to be honest.
Good Luck:)
yeah im taking the NET exam on december 1st is that enough time for them to render an admissions decision for spring 08?
Im not really sure. When is the deadline to apply to the program ? I think you should take the exam before the deadline. Why don't you call them? I think their answer would be more accurate than mine.,Good luck !

You're going to miss the spring deadline. It's November 1 for spring and March 1 for fall. Although Adelphi operates on a "rolling admission" status, these dates above are their deadlines for getting in your nursing applications, letters of recommendations and all other necessary tools. You have to apply to the University as a nursing major and be accepted. It sounds a bit confusing, I know. Just take it upon yourself to call them today and get everything lined up and figured out for the fall. I missed the spring deadline too, by 3 days. The direct line to the university is: 1800-adelphi and ask for the nursing department.
You should look at this link and see whether or not your classes are going to transfer in. I ran into a problem with that my last semester with some of my classes from here in California. It's another step you DON'T want to deal with your last semester of nursing school and especially before you're suppose to graduate.
