  1. I didn't really know this could be seen as sexual harassment. I assumed it was just a personal conflict. I did provide this in writing and so did the charge nurse. The argument was about break times. The assignment stated I was to go at 2:30M and he was to go at 1AM, We would be covering eachother. At 12:45AM, he decided to tell me that I was going to go at 1AM because “he was busy”. I told him the assignment said I was going at 2:30 Am and I was not going to be able to go at 1 AM because I had received my admission. He went over to the assignment and changed it, giving me break at 1AM. He stated that since he had made the assignment he could change it. I approached the charge nurse and explained the situation to him. He had told me the original assignment would be respected, not the changed one. I thanked him and when back to finishing my admission assessment. The RN then walked over to where I was sitting and called me a “ ******* *****”. Im not sure what his defense would be but I will not take this disrespect from a coworker and want to know what disciplinary actions can be taken.
  2. I am a fairly new nurse and unfortunately had an episode of verbal abuse at work. I had a male coworker call me a " ******* *****" in front of all my coworkers. It was extrememly disrespectful and very humiliating. He has had issues with other nurses as well. I had reported it to my ADN. What disciplinary actions are usually done in this scenario? I only ask becuase this incident happened a week ago and my ADn has yet to address the issue. Thanks in advance.
  3. After all these wonderful reviews, i am planning to purchase a pair of danskos. But can anyone tell me what the difference between the narrow and regular fit for the dansko professional white shoe is?(http://www.comfortshoesny.com/professional-white-box1.html) and has anyone ever ordered them from comfortshoesny.com? I just dont want to exchange them and go through the entire hassle. Thanks in advance, Mimi

  7. I took my exam today. PHEW! I definitely freaked out when the computer screen turned off for the first break, then again at question 100. Im going to stay positive. :)
  8. Im a recent nursing grad.:bow:I have several recommendations from my clinical professors. My question to eveyone is this..Im going on my first interview in two days. Should I take the two best recommendations even though they are from last semester nov 2007? Is that considered ok? And if it is ok, can i make a copy of the original since i have only have two originals and about 6 interviews scheduled? Thank you you in advance!!
  9. I have a major concern that is very similar. Im very distraught because of a huge cheating fiasco that is occuring in my school, Long Island University. We are graduating in may (woo hoo) and the "valevictorian " was just caught cheating on a Hesi exam, where you sign a contract not to disclose any information. This girl wrote down all the answers to 110 questions. She was caught red handed by our professor and was to be terminated. Apparently, the dean and everyone else for some odd reason is thinking of letting her slide. This is very disturbing and I dont know what to do. I feel like my nursing program is a joke and the authorities arent doing anything. These nurses are going to be the ones that ending up injuring patients. Is there anything that I should do or that can be done?? Distraught nursing student
  10. Ok you guys have convinced me to get the Dansko's :) Are they the Occupational kind? Is there a good and inexpenive web site...Im in my last semester and im paying for so many things in school its driving me into the poor house. Thank you in advance :)
  11. Thank you guys, this has been really helpful. My stethoscope was stolen in my clinical yesterday So i will definitely be spending the $150, it really seems worth it. I gradute in May, Im almost there
  12. First off i would like to say I agree with everyone. I am a nursing student who will be graduating with my BSN in may ( yay). In my contemporary issues class I am suppose to conduct a debate on the positives in obtaining a BSN in 10 years. Quite frankly I cannot find any. Everything listed is a con. The shortages, same pay, same exam taken, everything. Im from NY and cannt seem to find this "law" thats going to be enacted. It seems that this has been going on for decades. I know we all feel the same but does anyone know where i can find any information on the positive aspects for my debate?? Thank you in advance

hello everyone, im a second year student and i am having trouble with delegation and responisibility questions. im doing a case study where i am a charge nurse and when returing from dinner (3-11 shift) i am presented with the following informations. all the other rn's are busy but i have myself, a ward clerk and aiv certified lpn at hand. i have 6 patients and here are their situations: 1. mr. murphy's iv has infiltrated. she is behind in her iv fluids and she has missed her 6 pm antibiotics. i know that the infusion should be stopped, iv discontinued and sterile dressing applied to the site after cafeul inspection to determine the extent of the infiltration. then i know that the iv should be started in a new site. now my question would be what do i do about the missed antibiotics and loss of time with the iv fluid? i know i would assigned the lpn for this task. 2. a visitor has fainted. i would assign the lpn to assist this patient. i would have him check the person's airway, breathing and circulation. if necessary, begin rescue breathing and cpr. loosen tight clothing around the neck, keep the person lying down for at least 10 - 15 minutes, preferably in a cool and quiet space, if vomiting has occurred, turn the person onto their side to prevent choking, raise the person's feet above the level of the heart (about 12 inches). the ward clerk should not be assessing somebody who is potentially in cardiac or respiratory arrest. 3. the public tiolet is overflowing and waste is pouring out rapidly. this is a biochemical hazard and immediately needs to be taken care of. i just do not know who i would assign this to. the warrd clerk? 4. three patients have not recieved their dinners trays and it is now 7pm. i believe the task would be assigned to the ward clerk. 5. the or has just called and they are on their way to take mr. smith for a cardiac catherization. his preoperative meds have not been givien. the charge nurse would take this task. we havent reached the cardiac lectures yet, and im not able to find anything similar to this in my text but i would imagine you have to tell the or to wait since you may need to oder the pre-op med. im not sure how this situation would ne handle. any help? lastly, dr. russo is waiting to discuss a medication error that was made two weeks ago. the charge nurse would have to handle this task. why? because she oversees the nursing staff on the floor. as for list each in order or priority..i believe it would be .. fainting (#2), the or (#5), iv (#1), the toilet (#3), dinners (#4), and dr. russo (#6) would that be correct?? thank you in advance, mimi
  14. Hello there, Im currently attending LIU. I had a 3.92 when I applied. Personally I wish I would have gone to Pace university or NYU. The professors at LIU do not nurture their students. I have had several teachers that have stated they hated teaching and we have suffered the consequences- we taught ourselves. Its pretty sad that i paid 15 grand last semester and had absolutely horrible professors. Even after complaining to the dean, which had been recieving complaints for years, nothing happened. So steer clear of LIU. I wouldnt want you to go through the same horrible experience as me and my peers. Goodluck, Mimi1jb
