Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.
I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.
BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.
I'm in San Francisco and I received my acceptance letter today for the summer start for the accelerated program. I'm pretty sure that I'm going to decline... so, that's good news for the call list folks.
I have a 3.7 GPA for my BA and a 4.0 for the pre-reqs. My undergrad degree is from a fancy top-tier school... I don't know if they factor that in or not. I took Stats years ago and then I took Micro and Anatomy in the fall at a community college. I made sure to send them my transcript at the end of the semester so that they could see my grades. I'm in Physio now. I have 7.5 years of work experience in the non-profit field (always for organizations that focus on low-income kids) and I've been volunteering at a small ER since September.
Hi everyone,
I just found out about this site and have found it very comforting to know that other people are in the same boat as me. When I found out that my friend got notification last sat. I was freak out that I did not. I still have not received any notice and I thought for sure I would have on monday. After nothing on monday I emailed Cookie, my advisor asking if they staggered the mail or I should be concerned about it getting lost and I have gotten no reply. I'm hoping its because she know I will get it Wednesday!! I can't tell if it's a good thing or not!! Wednesday has to be the day!!
Thanks Sand Dollar. :)
Delish5...I also emailed and phoned Cookie Gowdy and Sue Bells (my Admissions Manager) yesterday afternoon. No response as of yet. They are so busy right now I don't know if I'll hear back anytime soon but as soon as I do I'll let everyone know what they say. But you have a good point that maybe they sent a 2nd batch of mail out and we'll get it today! I'm trying to stay positive.
Sand_Dollar, my plan B is DSN and I don't have a plan C. I have 4 children and my oldest is a sophomore in High School, so I would like to be finished with college before he starts college. At one point I will have 3 of them in college at the same time so it would be nice if I was already in my career by then. It also makes my choices of what college to go to small since I am not going to move.
Welcome to all of the new people! I just recently found this forum as well. It is nice to get to know others that are pursuing nursing as well. It is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be, but I like a challenge. It does seem like there are a lot of us still waiting on a letter which gives me new hope. Hopefully today is the day!
I too came across this site yesterday and it has been very helpful and full of information. Thanks to everyone who has posted.
I am also waiting for a letter....maybe today is the day? I live in Parker, CO.
Also, in looking into "Plan B", I have researched Denver School of Nursing and outside of the rediculous costs.....its looks to be a program that I can get into fairly quickly. What does anyone know about that program?

Taikosbuddy, there are tons of threads about DSN on this board. Try the search feature.
I just received a phone call from Cookie Gowdy and she said they are still putting decision letters in the mail and she was sorry they are so behind schedule, but they have had so many applicants. She couldn't give me any information over the phone as to whether I am accepted or rejected, but said I should be receiving a letter in the next couple of days. She also said that if I didn't receive a letter by April 6 (Tuesday) to give them a call. Good luck to everyone still waiting!!!
Hey cocogirl! My stepdaughter and I are both college Sophomores, my daughter just became a freshman, and my other stepdaughter will be a freshman in the fall. There will be 4 of us in college this fall! It's insane, but makes it very easy for us to relate to one another! I do understand wanting to be done before they start. It's a cost thing for us so DSN isn't on my list for that reason (their accreditation scares me too). I wish you the best of luck, and still hoping for CU!
Taikosbuddy - welcome to allnurses!!!
Ally: I figured they might be doing it in waves... just hope that there are acceptance letters in the second wave...
Here's a question: anyone who has received their letter, were you NOT also a recipient of follow up emails past the January 15th email? That would be an interesting trend... or... does your last name start with a letter from the second half of the alphabet?

I just tried to contact her for more info about the email. She was pretty vague about it, so who knows. I will keep you all posted when she responds.
