Is anyone going to put in their application this fall for Spring or Summer 2010?. I'm excited about finally getting to put in my application, I'll be attending the August 1st info session and be applying for the summer session. I will still be taking pre-reqs in the spring and I was so relieved when I found out I don't have to have everything finished to apply. My GPA is currently 4.0 and I should (I hope!) be able to keep that up until next spring. I'll be done all my sciences at the end of this summer semester and only have a couple math, a history and a pile of social sciences to do (music appreciation anyone!). The admission essay is making me nervous, but I have lots of time to work on it - I hope my GPA helps me out and they don't rely on essay alone.
I'd love to be in contact with anyone looking to get into CU.
BTW - I was going to go to DSN, but changed my mind since I decided to retake some old classes, and since we're paying for our own kids to go to college at the same time, needed to keep the cost down.
Hey guys, I wouldn't worry too much about not having received final review emails. I actually never received the mass email that everyone else got in January, and never got an email saying my application was ready for review until I emailed them a couple weeks ago asking about it. I still got accepted though, so I'm not sure this has anything to do with it, they've probably just been extremely busy and didn't get around to sending all of the emails that they said they were going to send. Also my last name is in the second half of the alphabet, so I don't think they're going alphabetically. Don't know how much that helps. I'm so sorry for everyone still waiting to hear, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you guys!!
SummitAP: I never got an email saying that my application was done being processed and ready for final review. The last email I got was Jan 12th saying that they had everything the needed. I got my acceptance letter on Saturday and my last name starts with an S. Hope this helps.. Let me know if you need anymore info. I wish they would have sent all of the letters out at once. I know all of you must be super stressed! It sounds like everyone should know really soon though.
I talked to my friend that received an email as her rejection for admissions. She said the her cum GPA was a 2.9 (which doesn't meet the requirements), so I am assuming that is why she got an email rather than a letter. Who knows?
SMALL ENVELOPE = NOT YOUR FRIEND
1. cum GPA: 3.7 or 3.8 depending how they calculated it... (A.S. degree in Biology and Chemistry GPA 3.9)
2. pre-req GPA: 3.9 (core prereq: 4.0)
3. Essay A "core value conflict": Talked about dealing with a patient from another culture whose choices went against my personal values, but why such things don't matter in heathcare as it isn't our place to judge, only to provide the best care to everyone.
Essay B "experience": Talked a lot about how I've lived in 12 places and visited over 20 countries, mostly in Central/South America, about my experiences treating underpriveleged at the community clinic, about my love for volunteerism, about my desire to be a community health or rural emergency nurse in Colorado.
Essay C "critical thinking": Talked about having to make hard triage decisions in a rural mass casualty incident with fatalities while on an ambulance with no backup.
4. Volunteer experience: 2 years volunteer clinical assistant at a community clinic serving the uninsured, 7 years search and rescue EMT and 7 years water rescue including medical leadership and field leadership positions
5. Prior work experience: 1 year as Director of Health Information Technology at a community clinic, 1.5 years on a rural 911 ambulance
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WHO GOT IN! :)
I thought I was a shoe-in. Boy am I glad I did the extra 15 hours of prereq coursework beyond the CU requirements that was needed to meet the Regis prereqs. Regis is just as good as CU, just 50% more $$$. Better get my FAFSA in!
*ONE1 I'll see you at Regis! :)

I'm so sorry Summit. This kind of stuff scares me--you seem like you have a stellar record, and you didn't get in?? Who are they admitting, Jesus Christ himself??!!
P.S. forgive me if you've already posted this, but are you a CO resident?? I'm getting real nervous seeing this from a non-resident's perspective.

Not to make myself sound arrogant, but similar thoughts crossed my mind!

Yes. Colorado resident for 8 years.
I received the small envelope today...
For those of us who didn't get accepted....did your letters state that they would rollover your application to the Spring 2011 start or was it a flat rejection letter? I need to initial my letter and send it back if I want to be considered for the Spring and they'll let me know by August. So I guess there is still hope. I've been accepted to DSN for July but I think I still want to see if I can get in to CU or maybe even Metro or Regis.
I feel sad for those of us who didn't get in. I was so hopeful but I guess the competition was beyond what I anticipated. Congrats to all of you made it!!!

Summit, your record is impressive:bowingpur I have no idea why they decided not to admit you!
BTW, I chatted with an EMT I worked with the other day who is about to finish his BSN in the traditional program at Regis and he was extremely happy with the school and the program. He believes it is the best program in Denver, and now that we are committed to Regis, we might as well believe him
When does your program start? Are you planning to move closer to campus or are you going to commute?

I just reviewed my last email from UCD, received January 20, which said that my app was ready for the final review and that I should be receiving an email mid-march to let me know the final review was complete....It just occurred to me that I have not received said email and now I'm freaking out! Did anyone receive an email from them this month that was NOT in response to something you sent them?
